แอปเปิลยืนยันเอง macOS 26 Tahoe เป็นรุ่นสุดท้ายของเครื่อง Mac ซีพียูอินเทล

แอปเปิลให้ข้อมูลยืนยันในเซสชันแยกของ WWDC 25 ว่า ระบบปฏิบัติการ macOS 26 Tahoe จะเป็น macOS รุ่นสุดท้ายที่รองรับเครื่อง Mac ซีพียูอินเทล เพราะการเปลี่ยนผ่านสู่ Apple Silicon เสร็จสิ้นสมบูรณ์แล้ว

เครื่อง Mac ที่ใช้ซีพียูอินเทลรุ่นท้ายๆ คือ MacBook Pro 13 นิ้วของปี 2020 และ iMac 27 นิ้วของปี 2020 โดยหลังจากเครื่องเหล่านี้ได้อัพเกรดใหญ่เป็น macOS 26 Tahoe แล้วจะได้การันตีอัพเดตแพตช์ความปลอดภัยอีก 3 ปี (ไปจนถึงปี 2028)

รวมรายชื่อ อุปกรณ์ไหนจะได้อัปเดต OS เวอร์ชันใหม่รุ่น 26 ของ Apple ปีนี้บ้าง

ปกติก็ Hackintosh แหละ ตราบใดที่แอปเปิลยังปล่อย macOS ที่รองรับ CPU เก่าที่เคยขาย แต่ถ้าไม่ได้ ก็ใช้ OS ที่รันได้ หรือใช้ของเดิม ๆ แบบไม่ต่อเน็ต

ช่วงยุค PowerPC แทบทุกเครื่อง PPC Mac กลายเป็นขยะไปเลยเพราะทำอะไรแทบไม่ได้ในช่วงยุค 2010 เป็นต้นไป ต่อให้ลง Linux ก็ใช้ได้ไม่กี่อย่างเพราะ ISA บางตัวก็ไม่มีใน PPC Mac ต้องคอมไพล์ใหม่แบบไม่ใช้ ISA ใหม่

ช่วงยุค Intel ต่างกันมากเพราะว่าด้วยความที่ x86 ยังเป็นใหญ่ในตลาด (ต่างจาก PPC ที่ IBM แทบจะทิ้งไปเลยถ้าไม่มีบริษัทไหนขอซื้อ) มันเลยมีวลี "ซื้อ Mac ลง Windows โชว์ฝาหลัง" ขึ้นมา ต่อให้ Hackintosh ไปต่อไม่ได้ ก็เอาไปใช้แบบ PC ธรรมดาต่อได้

ปล่อยมันไปเหอะ M series นี่เทพจริง ๆ เทพจนงงว่า Intel ไปทำอีกท่าไหนถึงกลายมาเป็นแบบทุกวันนี้ (ส่วนหนึ่งผมว่าวิศวกรโดนดูดมาที่ Apple ด้วยหรือเปล่านะ?)

โดนดูดคนก็น่าจะมีผล
หลักๆ คือ Intel ผลิตเองไม่สำเร็จ
ในขณะที่ Apple และ AMD ดีไซน์อย่างเดียว จ้างคนอื่นผลิต

Intel สร้างไลน์ผลิตมาเพื่อผลิต CPU ขายได้รุ่นสองรุ่น แล้วก็โละ เปิดไลน์ใหม่ เพราะต้องอัพเกรดเทคโนโลยีใหม่ ในขณะที่โรงงานรับจ้างผลิตโดยเฉพาะเช่น TSMC ปรับไลน์ไปผลิตสินค้าอื่นแทนได้ เลยมีเงินลงทุนเปิดไลน์เทคโนโลยีใหม่เรื่อยๆ
เป็นเหตุให้ Intel ต้องลากเทคโนโลยีเดิมมาหลายรุ่นเพื่อใช้ไลน์ผลิตให้คุ้มที่สุด ในขณะที่การลงทุนเทคโนโลยีใหม่ต้องใช้เงินเยอะขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ยากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ

ถ้าแค่ดีไซน์แล้วจ้างคนอื่นผลิต Intel ก็ทำชิปดีๆได้ เช่น GPU Intel Arc

คือตัว intel ตัวที่ขายปีท้าย ๆ มันเป็นตัวแพงครับ ถ้าผมจำไม่ผิดนะ พวกนี้บางคนซื้อทีใช้สิบปีไม่เปลี่ยนเลยนะ

แต่ในทางกลับกัน คนใช้กลุ่มนี้ก็มักจะเป็นกลุ่มที่ไม่อัพเกรดโอเอสด้วย เพราะอัพทีไรปัญหามาเต็มทุกที (ตรงนี้ต่างจากวินโดวส์ที่อัพให้ตายก็ไม่พัง)
