G Suite เปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น Google Workspace, เปลี่ยนไอคอน Gmail, Drive, Docs ใหม่หมด

กูเกิลประกาศรีแบรนด์ G Suite เป็นชื่อใหม่ Google Workspace พร้อมเปลี่ยนไอคอนแอพในชุดทั้ง 5 ตัวได้แก่ Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Meet ให้เป็นดีไซน์ใหม่ทั้งหมด

นอกจากเรื่องการรีแบรนด์และไอคอนชุดใหม่แล้ว ภาพรวมของ Workspace ตัวใหม่เน้นที่การทำงานร่วมกัน (collaboration) ผ่านระบบของ Chat และ Meet เป็นหลัก (ที่กูเกิลเคยโชว์ไปก่อนหน้านี้) เราจะเห็นหน้าจอแชทถูกแทรกซึมเข้าไปในหน้า Gmail, หน้าจอ Meet แบบ picture-in-picture ลอยทับใน Google Docs, รวมถึงการแก้เอกสารผ่าน Google Docs ในหน้า Gmail ได้โดยตรง

UI แบบใหม่ของ Google Workspace เปิดให้ใช้งานแล้วสำหรับลูกค้าแบบเสียเงิน ส่วนลูกค้าคอนซูเมอร์ทั่วไปจะทยอยได้ใช้ UI แบบใหม่ในอีกไม่กี่เดือนข้างหน้า

เห็นด้วยเรื่อง "ดูไม่รู้ว่า Icon อะไร?"
ขนาดใช้ Google Suite เกือบทุกอย่าง ทุกวัน ดูแล้วยังสะดุดกึก คิดอยู่เกือบ 3 sec

สีที่ดูดสายตามากที่สุดสองอันดับ คือ แดงกับเหลือง
ดูจากการเรียงตัวของสองสีนี้ คิดว่า google ระวังตัวพอนะ

ไอคอนสีแนวเดียวกัน แบบเดิมยังพอแยกออกได้บ้างว่าอันไหนคืออันไหน...

มันเด่นว่าเป็นเครือเดียวกันก็จริง แต่ประเด็นคือ ความเด่นในเครือเดียวกันมันไม่เท่ากับความโดดเด่นของแต่ละผลิตภัณฑ์หรอกนะ

แนวคิดโดยรวมถือว่าดี แต่ไอคอนนี่ไม่ไหวจริง ๆ

ผมเคยกดผิดบ่อยมากเพราะผมเคยเอา Play Store กับ Google Maps วางติดกันแล้วตอนรีบๆ เผลอกด Play Store ตลอดจนต้องวางห่างกัน ไม่โอเคกับการใช้สีแบบนี้มันทำให้แต่ละอันไปไม่สุดทาง ไม่มีความ Unique, Individual เลย

เป็นการ design icon ที่เข้าขั้นแย่เพราะใช้ pattern สีเดียวกันหมด แถมโคตรลายตา

ปกติคนเราเวลามองผ่านเพื่อกดใช้ app ความรู้สึกคนจะแยกด้วยสี >> รูปร่าง >> ตัวอักษร

การ design ด้วย pattern 4 สีแบบเดียวกันนี่จะทำให้คนแยกแยะแอพได้ยากขึ้นกว่าเดิมอีก แถมสมองต้องมาตีความอีกด้วยว่ารูปร่างของ icon นี้คืออะไร

อะไรดลบันดาลใจให้ออกแบบโลโก้แบบนี้หนอ แต่เท่าที่ดูแล้วถ้าวางอยู่อันเดียวมันจะเด่นมาก แต่จับรวมกันเมื่อไหร่มึนตึ๊บทันที ถ้า flow การทำงานดีๆโดยไม่ให้โลโก้มาใกล้กันเลยมันก็น่าจะพอรับได้นะ

จากดูใน https://support.google.com/a/answer/10075155 ต้องกระทบแน่ แค่ว่าอาจมีทางเลือก ยอมจ่ายเงินเพิ่มเพื่อไปใช้แบบ Enterprise แทนเพื่อคงการใช้ Unlimited storage ไว้เหมือนเดิม
