นอกจาก Windows Phone SDK 8.1 Update และอีมูเลเตอร์ ไมโครซอฟท์ยังปล่อยอัพเดตของเครื่องมือพัฒนาแอพ Visual Studio 2013 Update 3, Multi-Device Hybrid Apps CTP 2.0, Azure SDK 2.4 และ IntelliTrace Standalone Collector รายละเอียดมีดังนี้

####Visual Studio 2013 Update 3

Visual Studio 2013 Update 3 มีสิ่งใหม่และสิ่งที่ได้รับการปรับปรุงมากมาย อาทิ

Code Map ช่วยนำพานักพัฒนาไปยังโค้ดในไฟล์ต่างๆ ที่เก็บอยู่ในหลายโปรเจค รวมถึงแสดงความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างโค้ดเหล่านั้นในรูปไดอะแกรม เหมาะสำหรับการพัฒนาแอพที่มีโค้ดจำนวนมาก
IDE มีตัวเลือกแสดงผลชื่อคำสั่งแถบเมนูบาร์เป็นตัวพิมพ์ใหญ่ทั้งหมด (ต.ย. FILE) หรือเฉพาะอักขระตัวแรกของคำที่เป็นตัวพิมพ์ใหญ่ได้แล้ว (ต.ย. File) นักพัฒนาเข้าไปปรับได้ที่ Tools > Options > Environment > General
Team Foundation Server 2013 รองรับการเพิ่มฟิลด์และ workflow ตามที่ต้องการลง test plan และ test suite อาทิ ฟิลด์ชื่อผู้ทดสอบ หรือ ประเภทของการทดสอบ (อย่างเช่น regression, functional test เป็นต้น)

####Multi-Device Hybrid Apps CTP 2.0

Multi-Device Hybrid Apps เป็นตัวเชื่อมระหว่าง Visual Studio 2013 กับ Apache Cordova (หรือชื่อการค้า PhoneGap) ทำให้เราสามารถใช้ Visual Studio สร้างแอพมือถือข้ามแพลตฟอร์ม (iOS, Android, และ WP) ด้วยเทคโนโลยีเว็บ (HTML/JavaScript) ผ่าน Cordova ได้แล้ว (ข่าวเก่า)

รุ่นพรีวิว 2.0 นี้รองรับการพัฒนาแอพบน Windows 7 ขึ้นไป (Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2) จากเดิมที่รุ่นพรีวิวรุ่นแรกรองรับเพียง Windows 8.1 รุ่นพรีวิวล่าสุดนี้ยังจะรองรับการดีบักแอพบน Android รุ่นที่ต่ำกว่า 4.4 (KitKat) ได้โดยใช้ jsHybugger

####Azure SDK 2.4

Azure SDK 2.4 จะเพิ่มเครื่องมือจัดการการตั้งค่า VM รวมถึงเครื่องมือกำหนดค่า (set up) การดีบักแอพบนสถาปัตยกรรม 32 บิตที่รันบน VM จากระยะไกล (remote debugging) และ Read-Access Geo-Redundant Storage (RA-GRS) สิทธิ์อ่านอย่างเดียว (read-only) แก่ข้อมูลที่ถูกสำเนาไปยังที่เก็บข้อมูลอื่น บนระบบพื้นที่จัดเก็บข้อมูลทั้งแบบสำรองข้อมูลซ้ำซ้อนกันแยกภูมิภาค (Geo-Redundant Storage หรือ GRS) (ข่าวเก่า)

####IntelliTrace Standalone Collector

IntelliTrace Standalone Collector ใช้บันทึกการรันแอพบนอุปกรณ์จากระยะไกล (remote machine) เป็นไฟล์ .itrace และนำมาเปิดดูบน Visual Studio ภายหลังได้

ถามประสาไม่มีความรู้ด้านเขียนโปรแกรม สรุปแล้ว wp8x ที่นักพัฒนา/โปรแกรมเมอร์ชอบบ่นนี่มันไม่ดีที่ api ไม่มีให้ใช้ ไม่ดีพอ หรือ tool ที่ใช้เขียนโปรแกรมมันไม่ดีพอ แล้วอีกอย่างที่สงสัยคือถ้าแกนวินโดวส์มันเหมือนกันแล้วทำไม api มันไม่พอใช้หรือเพราะว่าตัววินโดวส์เองมันมาจากเดสท๊อปไม่ใช่ยุคโมไบล์ เลยยังไม่มี api รองรับ

Tools ที่ใช้ทำแอพวินโดวส์นี่ดีที่สุดใน 3 โลกแล้วครับ แต่ที่บ่นกันเพราะ API มันไม่ครบ

ถามว่า API ไม่ครบเพราะอะไร? เพราะ Microsoft เลือกที่จะสร้างแพลตฟอร์มการพัฒนาใหม่ขึ้นมาแทนของเดิม

Desktop จากที่เคยใช้ WinForm ก็เปลี่ยนมาเป็น WPF แล้วก็โล๊ะทิ้ง ทำใหม่เป็น WinRT อีก API เลยไม่ถึงไหนสักที

ทาง Windows Phone เคยใช้ Silverlight for wp ก็ยกเครื่องใหม่ตอน Windows Phone 8 แล้วก็เปลี่ยนมาเป็น WinPRT ที่ 8.1

แต่หลังจากนี้ก็หวังว่า API ทั้ง 2 ฝั่งคงจะไม่พลิกมากแบบแต่ก่อนอีกแล้ว เพราะมันเข้ามาบรรจบกันแล้ว

WP8 ใช้ WPRT ซึ่งไม่เหมือนกันซะทีเดียว เป็นซับเซ็ตของ WinRT
WP8.1 ถึงเปลี่ยนมาใช้ WinRT (Universal App)
