Fedora ร่วมวง Raspberry Pi แล้ว ออก Pidora

โครงการ Raspberry Pi นั้นทุกวันนี้มีลินุกซ์รุ่นที่ซัพพอร์ตเป็นทางการคือ Raspbian ที่มีฐานมาจาก Debian เช่นเดียวกับโครงการที่ได้รับความนิยมสูงอย่าง Ubuntu แต่ทางฝั่ง Fedora ที่เป็นแกนเดียวกัน RHEL ที่ได้รับความนิยมสูงในระดับองค์กรนั้นก็ต้องการเข้ามามีส่วนร่วมในโครงการนี้เช่นกัน และตอนนี้ก็มีโครงการ Pidora ที่เป็นความร่วมมือระหว่าง Fedora, Raspberry Pi, และ Seneca (ยังมีส่วนโฮสต์ที่ให้บริการโดย Bluehost)

ความสำคัญของ Pidora 18 คือ มันเป็นการพอร์ต Fedora 18 ที่รับ ARMv7 อยู่แล้ว ให้กลับมารับ ARMv6 ของ Raspberry Pi และยังมีไลบรารีเพื่อรองรับ Raspberry Pi อย่างการรองรับ GPIO, I2C, และ SPI มาให้ในตัว

ความได้เปรียบของ Pidora คือ คนใช้ลินุกซ์เช่นกลุ่มผู้ดูแลระบบจำนวนมากชินกับระบบคอนฟิกของ Fedora อยู่แล้ว คนกลุ่มนี้สามารถแฮกระบบของ Pidora ได้คล่องกว่าเพราะชื่อแพ็กเกจและระบบไฟล์ต่างๆ ตรงกัน

งงนิดหน่อยครับแฮกได้ง่ายกว่า แล้วทำให้ได้เปรียบอย่างไรครับ หมายถึงจะทำการพอร์ตโปรแกรมจาก fedora เดิมมาลงได้ง่ายขึ้นเหรอครับ

เคยชินกับการ configuration มากกว่าครับ ตัวโปรแกรมที่เคยรันบน ARM v7 คงยากที่จะเอามารันบน PI ได้เว้นแต่ว่าจะเขียนใหม่หรือมี compiler ที่สนับสนุนครับ

ว่าแต่ทำไมไม่มี Cortex M3 RAM เยอะๆแบบนี้มั่งล่ะเนี่ย?

  • Features จากทีม fedora / redhat น่าจะไปทาง system admin ครับ
  • desktop ก็คงเป็น gnome 3 (โครงการแยกต่างหาก)
  • Package manager ใช้ yum การ setup repository ต่างๆ ก็ต่างกัน
  • ระบบ service เปลี่ยนไปใช้ systemd แล้ว
  • fedora รับรองว่า ทุก package ที่มาจาก official repo เป็น open source (ไม่มีปัญหาเรื่อง license เวลา distribute) ผมคิดว่าอันนี้อาจจะเป็นประเด็นได้ถ้าจะทำของขายครับ
