Nokia Siemens เพิ่มความเร็วให้เครือข่าย EDGE เป็นสองเท่า

หลายๆ คนในบ้านเราคงใช้งานอินเทอร์เน็ตนอกบ้านผ่านทาง EDGE ผ่านทางผู้ให้บริการ GSM ที่มีให้เลือกในบ้านเรากันเป็นประจำ ปัญหาหลักของ EDGE ในตอนนี้คือความเร็วที่ค่อนข้างต่ำเมื่อเทียบกับการใช้งานอินเทอร์เน็ตในบ้าน แต่ตอนนี้เองทาง Nokia Siemens Network ก็ได้เสนอการอัพเกรดซอฟต์แวร์ให้กับเครือข่าย EDGE เพื่อให้สามารถให้บริการได้ที่ความเร็ว 592 kbps หรือเพิ่มขึ้นเป็นสองเท่าตัวจากในปัจจุบัน

พร้อมกันนี้ยังเตรียมการอัพเกรดเป็นเครือข่าย EDGE 2 ที่รองรับความเร็ว 1.2 Mbps สำหรับการดาวน์โหลดและ 473 kbps

เริ่มขายซอฟต์แวร์ในไตรมาสสามของปีนี้ ส่วน EGPRS 2 นั้นยังไม่ระบุเวลาเปิดตลาดแต่อย่างใด

ปกติ EDGE นี่ครอบคลุมพื้นที่เหมือน GPRS มั้ยครับ เคยโทรไปสอบถามที่ call center พนักงานบอกต้องเอาโทรศัพท์ที่รองรับ EDGE มาเปิดหาสัญญาณดู มีก็มี ไม่มีก็อดใช้ ปัญหาคือผมยังไม่มีโทรศัพท์ที่รองรับ EDGE เลย ถ้ามันมีสัญญาณให้ใช้ จะได้ซื้อแค่นั้นเอง
