ประเด็น Windows 11 รองรับแอพ Android ยังมีรายละเอียดตามมาอีกเรื่อยๆ ข้อมูลสำคัญมาจาก Kevin Gallo หัวหน้าฝ่าย Windows Developer Platform อธิบายเรื่องนี้ไว้ในไลฟ์สำหรับนักพัฒนาแอพ

Gallo บอกว่า Windows 11 มีสิ่งที่เรียกว่า Windows Subsystem for Android ที่ใช้หลักการทำงานเหมือน Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) ในปัจจุบัน นั่นคือแปลงคำสั่งของเคอร์เนลลินุกซ์มาเป็นคำสั่งของเคอร์เนลวินโดวส์

การที่เคอร์เนลของ Android เป็นลินุกซ์อยู่แล้ว ทำให้ไมโครซอฟท์ต่อยอด WSL มาเป็น Windows Subsystem for Android ได้ไม่ยากนัก ตัวแอพ Android จะรันอยู่ใน virtual machine เพื่อความเข้ากันได้กับระบบปฏิบัติการเวอร์ชัน AOSP (ที่ไม่ต้องพึ่งพา Google Play Services)

ส่วนประเด็นเรื่อง Intel Bridge Technology จะใช้ต่อเมื่อแอพ Android คอมไพล์มาเป็น ARM เท่านั้น ซึ่ง Gallo ก็แนะนำให้นักพัฒนาทำแอพเป็น Universal Binary ที่รันได้ทั้ง x86/ARM จะทำให้ประสิทธิภาพในการรันบน Windows 11 เต็มประสิทธิภาพมากกว่า

Gallo ยังไม่ได้แชร์ภาพหรือข้อมูลแผนผังของ Windows Subsystem for Android ยังเป็นการตอบคำถามปากเปล่าเท่านั้น

จากใน Windows 11 รันแอป Android ผ่าน WSL ได้

น่าจะเพื่อแก้ปัญหาเรื่อง Windows ARM และ Windows Tablet mode ที่มีแอปน้อยด้วยการเอา Android มาผนวกร่วมด้วย จากแอปน้อย ๆ โผล่มามหาศาลทันที

ส่วนว่ามันจะทำงานได้ดีแค่ไหน รอดู

ผมคิดว่าแอพทั่วๆ ไปน่าจะทำได้ดีเลย ถ้าจะมียกเว้นคือ GPU ไม่รู้จะใช้ได้แค่ไหน

ปัญหาตอนนี้น่าจะเหลือแค่ไม่มี GMS (เพราะตัว Subsystem เป็น AOSP) ทางแก้เลยต้องไปดึง Amazon ที่มีคลังแอพ non-GMS พร้อมอยู่แล้วมาใช้แทน

เข้าใจว่าถ้ามี android version/security patch ออกมาทาง MS ก็แค่ปล่อยอัพเดทตัว WSL สำหรับ android รุ่นใหม่นั่นๆออกมาใน windows updates แค่นั้นเองครับ

แต่จะทำหรือไม่ วัดใจเอาครับ

ไม่ควรเอาแค่ Tiktok มาเทียบนะครับแอปอื่นก็ยังมีอยู่ แต่ก็ขึ้นอยู่กับผู้ใช้เองชอบแบบไหน เป้าหมายของระบบนี้คือการใช้งานแอป Android ได้แบบเนทีฟ

เนื่องจากบางแอปก็มีใน Windows Store ด้วยซึ่งอาจทับซ้อนกันได้ปกติ
