ไมโครซอฟท์ประกาศเข้าซื้อแฟรนไซส์เกม Gears of War จากค่ายเกมยักษ์ใหญ่อย่าง Epic Games โดยสิทธิ์ที่ว่านั้นรวมไปถึงชื่อเกม และสินค้าเกี่ยวกับเกมนี้

นอกจากนี้ ไมโครซอฟท์ยังประกาศให้ค่ายเกม Black Tusk Studios จากแคนาดา เป็นผู้พัฒนาเกม Gears of War ภาคต่อไปอีกด้วย โดยได้ Rod Fergusson อดีตผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายผลิตของซีรีย์เกม Gears of War จาก Epic Games เป็นผู้ควบคุมการผลิต

งานนี้แฟนเกม Gears of War ต้องคอยภาวนาแล้วว่าเกมนี้ภายใต้การดูแลของไมโครซอฟท์จะออกมาดีหรือไม่ครับ

ส่วนคำว่า "ซื้อสิทธ์ในการใช้ชื่อเกม" นั้นเหมาะสมหรือไม่ คงต้องรอท่านอื่นตอบนะครับ

เฟรนไชส์นี้น่าจะซื้อ IP ของเกมทั้งหมดนะครับ ทั้งเนื้อเรื่อง ตัวละคร ระบบการเล่น ไม่ใช่เฉพาะชื่อครับ
