Xbox 360 วางขายในปี 2005 ปัจจุบันมีอายุ 13 ปีเข้าไปแล้ว ตัวคอนโซลหยุดผลิตและวางขายในปี 2016 แต่ล่าสุดไมโครซอฟท์ก็ยังไม่ทอดทิ้งลูกค้ากลุ่มนี้ และออกอัพเดตครั้งแรกในรอบ 2 ปีให้ด้วย
ไมโครซอฟท์ไม่ได้อธิบายรายละเอียดของอัพเดตตัวนี้มากนัก บอกเพียงว่า minor bug fixes and improvements แต่ก็เป็นสัญญาณอันดีว่าไมโครซอฟท์ยังมีทีมซัพพอร์ต Xbox 360 ต่อไป นโยบายของไมโครซอฟท์เองก็ยังซัพพอร์ตเกมจาก Xbox 360 ผ่านฟีเจอร์ Backward Compatibility บน Xbox One
คอนโซลยุคเดียวกันอย่าง PS3 และ Wii U ก็ยังอยู่ในระยะซัพพอร์ต และได้อัพเดตล่าสุดกันในปี 2017 ทั้งคู่
