นินเทนโดบอกความสำเร็จของ Switch มาจากการเรียนรู้ความล้มเหลวของ Wii U

Bill Trinen และ Doug Bowser ผู้บริหารของ Nintendo of America ให้สัมภาษณ์กับ Business Insider ว่าความสำเร็จของ Nintendo Switch เกิดจากบทเรียนอันเจ็บปวดของ Wii U

Trinen บอกว่าบทเรียนข้อแรกคือ Wii U บูตเครื่องนาน กว่าจะเข้าเกมได้ต้องใช้เวลานานมาก เป็นปัญหาที่ทำให้ผู้เล่นอยากเล่นเกมน้อยลง ทำให้ Switch ตั้งใจแก้ปัญหานี้อย่างจริงจัง ทำงานเร็ว เมนูใช้ง่าย กดปุ่ม 3 ทีก็ได้เล่นเกมแล้ว

ส่วนบทเรียนข้อที่สองคือตารางการออกเกมใหม่ของนินเทนโดเอง สมัยของ Wii U มีเกมดังๆ หลายเกมแต่กว่าจะออกก็ทิ้งช่วงนาน ทำให้ผู้เล่นหมดความสนใจในระหว่างรอ แต่ยุคของ Switch นินเทนโดวางแผนมาอย่างดี เปิดตัวด้วย The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild ที่ประสบความสำเร็จอย่างสูง แล้วตามด้วย Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, Splatoon 2 เรียกว่ามีเกมใหญ่วางขายแทบทุกเดือน

ประเด็นสุดท้ายคือ นินเทนโดเรียนรู้ที่จะฟังเสียงเรียกร้องของแฟนๆ และตอบสนองมากขึ้น ตัวอย่างการปรับตัวของนินเทนโดครั้งล่าสุดคือ นำ NES Classic Edition กลับมาขายอีกรอบ หลังจากแฟนๆ เรียกร้องกันอย่างมาก

แต่เรื่องจังหวะการวางขายเกมของสวิทช์นี่ยอมรับว่าโหดจริง
ตอนแรกกะรอให้กระแสซาแล้วค่อยซื้อจะได้ไม่ต้องต่อคิวจับสลาก
กลายเป็นว่าตอนนี้มีหน้าใหม่เข้ามาจับสลากทุกอาทิตย์เพราะเกมที่ตัวเองอยากเล่นดันกำลังจะออก
