ถามกันมานานเรื่อง Microsoft Office for Android ที่ไม่เปิดให้คนไทยดาวน์โหลดสักที เหตุผลเป็นเพราะภาษาไทยเป็นภาษากลุ่ม complex scripts (ต้องมีการตัดคำตามพจนานุกรม ไม่สามารถตัดตาม space ได้แบบภาษากลุ่มละติน)

ตามปกติแล้ว ภาษากลุ่ม complex script มักรวมถึงภาษาแถบตะวันออกกลางที่เขียนจากขวาไปซ้าย (right-to-left) ที่ต้องใช้เอนจินแสดงข้อความแบบเฉพาะด้วย

ตอนนี้การรอคอยใกล้สิ้นสุดลงแล้ว เพราะไมโครซอฟท์กำลังเริ่มทดสอบ Office for Android สำหรับภาษากลุ่ม complext scripts และขอเชิญผู้ใช้ Android ชาวไทยร่วมทดสอบครับ

เงื่อนไขการใช้งานคือคุณต้องมีอุปกรณ์ Android 4.4 KitKat ขึ้นไป (แรมมากกว่า 1GB) และกรอกฟอร์มสมัครเข้าร่วมโครงการทดสอบ ภายในวันที่ 29 กันยายนนี้ (เลือกภาษาเป็น Thai ในตัวเลือก)

ผู้สมัครเข้าโครงการทดสอบจะได้รับอีเมลตอบรับภายใน 3-4 วัน พร้อมรายละเอียดการดาวน์โหลดแอพเพื่อทดสอบทางอีเมล (ถ้าไม่ได้รับลิงก์แปลว่าอาจเกินโควต้าแล้ว)

ทางไมโครซอฟท์ประเทศไทย แจ้งมาว่าขอให้ผู้เข้าร่วมโครงการ ส่ง feedback กลับไปอย่างน้อยคนละ 1 ครั้ง และช่วย capture ภาพตอนส่ง feedback เก็บเอาไว้ด้วย เพราะตอนสิ้นสุดโครงการ ไมโครซอฟท์จะมีกิจกรรมขอบคุณผู้เข้าร่วมโครงการด้วยครับ

What features are being added?

The apps will get bi-directional, switchable text support in canvas, vertical text support, justification support and translation in new languages. This includes localized text in the UI and mirroring. The apps are available for preview in Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Persian, Vietnamese and Thai. Sign-up today!

Which devices are eligible for the preview?

Any ARM or Intel x86-based Android phone or tablet running KitKat 4.4 and above with a minimum of 1 GB RAM is supported.

Anything and everything! All scenarios i.e. both consumption and editing are open for use and feedback.
