RCS บริการส่งข้อความบน Android สามารถใช้บริการในไทยได้แล้ว วันนี้

เทคโนโลยี RCS ถูกกูเกิลผลักดันมาสักระยะหนึ่งแล้ว (ตั้งแต่ปี ค.ศ.2015) หลังกูเกิลเข้าซื้อ Jibe Mobile เพื่อผลักดันการส่งข้อความแบบ RCS บน Android โดยตั้งเป้าหมายจะมาแทน SMS และ MMS พร้อมเพิ่มฟีเจอร์แชทสมัยใหม่เข้าไป

Rich Communication Services (RCS) เป็นมาตรฐานการส่งข้อความแบบใหม่ที่มาแทน SMS โดยมีฟีเจอร์สมัยใหม่อย่างแชทกลุ่ม วิดีโอคอลล์ แชร์ไฟล์ ฯลฯ ความแตกต่างของ RCS กับแอพแชทในปัจจุบันคือ RCS สามารถคุยได้ข้ามโอเปอเรเตอร์-ข้ามค่าย (ถ้าหากโอเปอเรเตอร์รองรับ)

ผู้ใช้ในไทย สามารถใช้บริการ RCS ผ่านการติดตั้งแอป Messages for Android ได้แล้ววันนี้

ผมลองแล้วบนเครือข่าย AIS โดยพบว่าเมื่อใช้แอป Android Messages จะขึ้นข้อความถามว่าต้องการเปิดใช้ Chat Feature หรือไม่ ถ้าตกลงต้องยืนยันเบอร์ที่จะใช้งาน จากนั้นแอปจะขึ้นสถานะว่า Chat connected ในหน้า Settings ตามภาพ

มีค่าใช้จ่ายรึเปล่าครับ ถ้ามีคิดยังไงหว่า รายครั้งเหมือน sms หรือว่าคิดจาก Data plan
แล้ว operator จะมี rcs gateway ให้ใช้แบบ sms gateway ไม๊นะ

ไม่มีค่าใช้จ่ายครับ เพราะส่งผ่าน Data Plan ถ้าอีกฝ่ายเปิด RCS จะส่งผ่าน Data Plan ถ้าอีกผ่านไม่เปิดจะส่งผ่าน SMS/MMS ปกติ

ผมทดสอบแล้วใช้ได้ทุกค่ายครับ เหมือน Google จะทยอยเปิดให้ใช้ทั่วโลกแล้ว เพราะไปดูใน reddit ประเทศอื่นก็ใช้งานได้เหมือนกันโดย RCS ตัวนี้มี Jibe Mobile เป็นเบื้องหลังให้ สำหรับทั่วโลก

ตอนนี้ RCS เข้ารหัสบ้างหรือยังนะครับ (end-to-end หรือแค่เข้ารหัสอะไรบ้างก็ได้) หรือยังเป็น plain text อยู่ https://www.blognone.com/node/116530

คือก่อนหน้านี้มันทำให้ส่งข้ามผู้ให้บริการได้ผมเลยเดาว่าผู้ให้บริการเครือข่ายก็ต้องอ่านข้อความออกด้วยถึงจะเอาไปส่งต่อให้ผู้ใช้ได้ถูก

ถ้าเข้ารหัสทั่วไปให้ผู้ให้บริการอ่านไม่ได้นี่ไม่น่าจะถึงกับมีเมนูให้เห็นหรือเปล่าครับ?

แต่ถ้าเข้ารหัสได้จริงๆ ก็จะพาให้สงสัยอีกนิดนึงว่าทำยังไงท่าไหนถึงส่งข้ามผู้ให้บริการได้ด้วยน่ะครับ

เท่าที่ทราบประเทศที่ผู้ให้บริการไม่ทำ RCS google จะเป็นผู้ให้บริการให้ในชื่อ Jibe Mobile แต่ส่งข้ามผู้ให้บริการยังไงนี้ยังหาข้อมูลไม่ได้ ส่วนการเข้ารหัสคิดว่าน่าจะทำที่แอปประมาณว่าแอป google messages ส่งหากันอ่านได้แต่ส่งไปหาเครื่อง samsung messages อ่านไม่ได้หรือเปล่า ผมดูจาก ui ที่หลุดออกมาว่ามีเปิดให้แอปอื่นอ่านข้อความได้

ปัญหาคือการที่มันส่งข้ามเครือข่ายกันได้เนี่ยแหละครับที่ผมคิดไม่ออกจริงๆ ว่าจะทำให้ผู้ให้บริการไม่รู้ว่าเราส่งอะไรคุยกันได้ยังไงถ้าไม่ใช่ end-to-end

คล้ายกันครับ แต่ตัวนี้ออกแบบมาให้ทำงานข้ามเครือข่ายและค่ายได้ ตั้งใจทำมาให้เป็นมาตรฐานทดแทน SMS/MMS เลย ไม่จำเป็นต้องใช้ Android อย่างเดียว

ผู้ให้บริการเครือข่ายสามารถตั้ง server เองได้ไม่เหมือน iMessage ที่ข้อมูลจะอยู่กับ server Apple เท่านั้น (ซึ่งอันนี้ควรนับเป็นข้อดีหรือข้อเสียนะ) แต่ด้วยความที่ผู้ให้บริการเครือข่ายไม่ค่อยยอมตั้ง server กัน (ในไทยมีข่าวว่า DTAC จะเปิด ไม่แน่ใจตกลงเปิดไหม) สุดท้ายเมื่อปีที่แล้วทาง Google เลยตัดใจตั้ง server เองสำหรับเครือข่ายที่ไม่ยอมตั้ง server ครับ คืออยากตั้งเองก็ยังได้อยู่แต่ถ้าไม่ตั้งก็วิ่งผ่าน server Google ไป

ลองโหลดแอป Carrier Services นี้มาลง แล้วล้าง Data แอปข้อความใหม่ครับ (เวอร์ชั่น 44.0.329788481 ขึ้นไปจะใช้งานได้)

ลอง Downgrade มา V44 ได้ไหมครับ เพราะเครื่องผมมันสุดที่ V44 ไม่มี V46 ให้อัปเดต ส่วนล่าง Data แล้วข้อความไม่หายครับ แต่ยังไงก็กดสำรองข้อความเพื่อความปลอดภัยก่อนครับ

ไม่ได้อีกคนครับ เวอร์ชั่น 46 จะไปเปิดฟังก์ชั่นในแอพ ขึ้นว่า "Chat featers unavailable for this device. Your operator does not currently support this feature." ตกลงเป็นที่เครื่องหรือที่เครือข่ายหว่า
