หนังสือพิมพ์ BusinessWeek รายงานอ้างแหล่งข่าวภายในว่าตอนนี้กูเกิลกำลังพิจารณาจะลงทุนใน Yahoo! ผ่านทางบริษัทลงทุนอื่น

สภาพของ Yahoo! แม้จะยังทำกำไรแต่ส่วนแบ่งตลาดนั้นก็ย่ำแย่ลงเรื่อยๆ จนกระทั่งไมโครซอฟท์ที่เคยอยากซื้อ Yahoo! ยังดีใจที่ไม่สามารถตกลงซื้อได้

เป็นเหตุการณ์ที่ไม่มีใครจำได้เท่าใหร่ว่าผลงานแรกๆ ของจ๊อบส์หลังกลับมารับตำแหน่งคือเจรจาขอเงินลงทุนจากไมโครซอฟท์
