ผู้ก่อตั้ง Blizzard ยืนยันไม่รีเมค WarCraft สองภาคแรก เพราะมันไม่สนุกแล้วในยุคปัจจุบัน

ในยุคสมัยแห่งเกมรีเมคและรีมาสเตอร์ แฟนๆ เกม WarCraft สองภาคแรกอาจต้องผิดหวัง เพราะมีคนไปถาม Frank Pearce ผู้ร่วมก่อตั้ง Blizzard ในงาน BlizzCon ถึงเรื่องนี้

คำตอบของ Frank Pearce คือ Blizzard ยังเก็บซอร์สโค้ดและไฟล์ต่างๆ ของเกมต้นฉบับไว้ทั้งหมด แต่เนื่องจากเกมมีอายุเก่ามากแล้ว ทีมงานก็ลืมๆ กันไปหมดแล้วว่ากลไกของเกมทำงานอย่างไร โชคดีว่ามีทีมงานบางคนอยากทำเรื่องนี้ เลยไปขุดซอร์สโค้ดมาปรับปรุงจนสามารถเล่น WarCraft ภาคแรกบน Windows ได้สำเร็จ

จากนั้น Pearce ลองเล่นมัน เขาบอกว่าในตอนนั้นเกมสนุกมาก แต่ในมาตรฐานโลกยุคปัจจุบัน มันถือว่าไม่สนุกอีกต่อไปแล้ว (it's just not that fun any more) และในมุมมองของ Blizzard ที่มีทรัพยากรจำกัด ก็อยากทุ่มความสามารถไปกับเกมรุ่นปัจจุบันทั้ง World of WarCraft หรือ Overwatch แทนจะดีกว่า

เขายังขอบคุณแฟนๆ ที่รักเกมเก่าเหล่านี้ และยืนยันว่ารักในเกมพวกนี้เช่นกัน

ชอบเหตุผลมาก พวกเกมดังในอดีตที่แฟน ๆ เรียกร้องให้รีเมคมันมักไม่ใช่แค่เพราะเกมดีอย่างเดียว แต่มันมีอารมณ์ระลึกความหลังแฝงอยู่ด้วยจนทำให้มองข้ามไปว่าเกมสนุก ๆ สมัยก่อนมันอาจจะไม่ได้สนุกอีกแล้วเมื่อเทียบกับมาตรฐานปัจจุบัน เช่น มันอาจจะเป็นเกมแรก ๆ ที่เปิดมาตรฐานเกมแนวนั้นแต่พอเวลาผ่านไปเกมอื่น ๆ ที่เดินตามมาก็ได้พัฒนาใส่ระบบใหม่ ๆ เข้าไปในเกมแนวนั้นแล้ว การเอาระบบแบบเดิมทั้งหมดมาขายหมดคงขายได้แต่แฟนเกมกลุ่มเหนียวแน่นเท่านั้น ถ้าอยากขายกลุ่มอื่นด้วยก็ต้องทำไม่ต่างจากสร้างเกมใหม่ที่แทบจะต้องออกแบบใหม่ระบบใหม่เกือบทั้งหมด (และเสี่ยงเละจนแฟนเกมเหนียวแน่นก็ไม่ซื้ออีก)

ตอนที่หนัง WARCRAFT เข้าฉาย
ผมยังไปขุดภาคแรก และภาค2 มาเล่นอยู่เลยครับ
แต่ก็เหมือนเดิม คือ เล่นแปปเดียว หายคิดถึง
แล้วก็ไม่ได้เล่นอีกเลย -__-"

เห็นด้วยครับ ครั้งแรกที่เล่น FF VII สนุกมาก เก็บ material ได้ครบและ master ทุกลูก เก็บทุกรายละเอียดเท่าที่หนังสือสรุปจะมีให้ แต่พอ steam เอามาขายใหม่ ซื้อแล้วเล่นไม่สนุกเหมือนเดิม จนเลิกเล่นไปเอง

remake มาก็ไม่คุ้มครับ ขนาดเกมส์ในตำนานอย่าง Starcraft เอามาทำภาคสองยังอาการแย่เลย แต่ Blizzard ทำต่อเนื่องจากมันยังเป็น e-sport ที่ได้รับความนิยมพอสมควรในบางประเทศ แม้จะไม่ค่อยสร้างรายได้ก็ตาม

เกมส์แนว RTS มันเล่นยากเกินไปสำหรับคนรุ่นใหม่ เทียบกับพวก MOBA หรือ MMORPG
เกมส์อย่าง Warcraft ควรจะก้าวไปข้างหน้าด้วยระบบใหม่ๆ มากกว่าเอามา Remake
