Yahoo! เตรียมแถลงข่าวเข้าร่วม OpenSocial ในเร็วๆ นี้

OpenSocial เป็นชุด API กลางสำหรับเว็บไซต์จำพวก social network ทั้งหลาย มีเป้าหมายเพื่อให้เว็บไซต์เหล่านี้ทำงานร่วมกันได้ดีขึ้น OpenSocial ริเริ่มโดยกูเกิลเมื่อปลายปี 2007 และมีพันธมิตรเข้าร่วมมากมาย เช่น MySpace, Hi5, Friendster และ LinkedIn โดยในทางธุรกิจจะมองว่า OpenSocial เป็นการรวมตัวกันของมวยรอง เพื่อสกัดความแรงของดาวรุ่งอย่าง Facebook ก็ได้

ถ้า Yahoo! เข้าร่วม ยอดผู้ใช้จำนวนมากของ Yahoo! จะเพิ่มน้ำหนักให้กับ OpenSocial อีกมากมาย ตอนนี้ยังไม่มีข้อมูลอย่างเป็นทางการจาก Yahoo!

ถ้าแบบนั้น ความสนใจจะไปอยู่ที่นโยบายของ Facebook ว่าจะทำอย่างไรกับ App ที่มีอยู่มากมาย ซึ่งใช้ Facebook API

แต่แน่นอนว่าจำนวน App บน Facebook API เยอะขนาดนั้น ถือเป็นจุดขายสำคัญของ Facebook (เสมือนเป็นการป้องกันตลาดจากคู่แข่งกลายๆ) ก็ต้องดูว่าจะยอมทุบหม้อข้าวตัวเองขนาดไหน
