โอเพ่นซอร์สทำให้วิสต้าต้องลดราคาในบางประเทศ 50%

จากรายงานของ InformationWeek ได้มีการกล่าวถึงนโยบายที่แตกต่างกันในแต่ละประเทศ ของการลดราคาขายปลีกของระบบปฏิบัติการวินโดวส์วิสต้าจากไมโครซอฟท์

ในข่าวเก่า ได้มีการรายงานราคาใหม่ของวิสต้าในสหรัฐไปแล้ว แต่ในบางประเทศอย่างสหราชอาณาจักรนั้น ราคาเวอร์ชั่น Home Premium ลดลง 44% มาที่ 131.92 ปอนด์จาก 233.60 ปอนด์

โดยหลักการในการตั้งราคาใหม่นั้นขึ้นอยู่กับตลาด โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งบางตลาดที่มีการแข่งขันสูงจากกลุ่มซอฟต์แวร์โอเพ่นซอร์ส ทำให้ในบางประเทศ ไมโครซอฟท์จำเป็นต้องตัดราคามากถึง 48%

เมื่อมาดูตัวเลขเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์ใหม่ที่ขายพร้อม ๆ กับวิสต้าในตลาด พบว่ามีจำนวนแค่เพียง 39% เท่านั้นในปี 2007 ที่ผ่านมา เปรียบเทียบกับปี 2002 เมื่อคอมพิวเตอร์ใหม่มี XP ติดไปด้วยถึง 67% เลยทีเดียว

ไม่รู้เป็นไง แต่เครื่องล่าสุดผมไม่มี partition วินโดวส์อีกต่อไป หลังจากเครื่องที่แล้วได้ใช้ประมาณเดือนละครั้ง

ตอนนี้ติดเรื่อง office เป็นหลัก ต้องมี VMWare ไว้เปิดไฟล์ DOCX ถ้าบังคับใช้ ODF เมื่อใหร่คงสนุก

ตอนนี้ก็ติดเรื่อง .doc ของ MS Word นี่แหละ ถ้าเมื่อไหร่บังคับใช ODF คงเจ๋งล่ะทีนี้

สุดท้ายผมก็ใช้ text edit ใน Mac OS X แทนก่อนส่งให้คนอื่น ส่วนเรื่อง format เอกสารผมไม่ทำ ถ้าจะให้ผมทำ ก็ต้องให้ผมเป็นคนสุดท้ายของสายโซ่

เอาเข้าจริงแล้ว 90% ของงานเอกสารที่ผมทำ เขียนเป็น .txt ได้ครับ รู้สึกว่าเราใช้ word processor กันเกินจำเป็น (แต่ก็แล้วแต่คนด้วยแหละนะ)

ผมว่าเป็นปกติของกลไกตลาดแหละ แต่คู่แข่ง OS ที่ไม่ใช่ OSS มันไม่ค่อยมีเด็ดๆเท่าไหร่

ตอนนี้ใช้ Ubuntu มีปัญหามากๆ คืองานที่ต้องเรนเดอร์บน IE แม้จะมี IEs4Linux ให้ใช้ แต่มันไม่ร้อยเปอร์เซ็นต์ บางครั้งงานคาบเกี่ยวกับการดีไซน์เล็กๆ น้อยๆ ทำให้ปวดหัวเหมือนกัน ..เบื่อ..
