ลง Ubuntu เหมือนลงโปรแกรมในวินโดวส์

Windows

Ubuntu ได้เริ่มโครงการ Windows-based Installer (หรือชื่อภายในว่า install.exe) ซึ่งจะทำให้เราดับเบิลคลิกที่ไอคอน .exe มีตัวติดตั้งขึ้นมาแบบที่คุ้นเคย กด Next หรือ Yes ไปตามเรื่อง แต่แทนที่จะได้โปรแกรมธรรมดา ก็ได้ Ubuntu มาแทน (นึกภาพตามไม่ออก ดูรูปดีกว่า)

ขั้นตอนการทำงานมันค่อนข้างซับซ้อนเล็กน้อย สรุปได้ดังนี้ครับ

ดาวน์โหลดตัวติดตั้ง Ubuntu สำหรับวินโดวส์มา เริ่มติดตั้งตามปกติ มีถามค่าต่างๆ
ตัวติดตั้งจะดาวน์โหลด ubuntu.img ผ่านทาง BitTorrent เพื่อลดภาระของเซิร์ฟเวอร์
ubuntu.img จะเปรียบเสมือนพาร์ทิชันที่เอาไว้ลง Ubuntu เพียงแต่อันนี้เป็นไฟล์ทั้งก้อนอยู่ใน C:\ubuntu แล้วเมานท์แบบ loopmount เอา
ตัวติดตั้งไม่ได้แก้ MBR เพื่อลง GRUB เหมือนปกติ แต่จะไปแก้ boot.ini ของวินโดวส์แทน (ผมเข้าใจเอาเองว่าเหมือนเราลงวินโดวส์ 2 ตัวคู่กัน)
รีบูตหนึ่งที เราจะได้ Ubuntu พร้อมใช้งาน โดยที่ไม่ต้องสร้างพาร์ทิชัน และไม่ต้องแก้ MBR

ตอนนี้รุ่นทดสอบพร้อมให้ลองแล้ว ใครสนใจก็เข้าไปดาวน์โหลดมาเล่นได้ รายละเอียดของโครงการอ่านที่นี่ หรือ Ubuntuforums ส่วนจะได้ใช้กันจริงในเวอร์ชันไหนนั่นก็อีกเรื่องนึง

หารายละเอียดการทำงานตัวนี้ไม่มีเลยนิ เข้าใจว่าน่าจะหลักการเดียวกับ Dumn กะ putty ที่ใช้มาก่อน คือทำงานผ่าน Qemu For Windows โดย Linux partition จะอยู่ในรูปแบบ image ไฟล์ ถ้าเป็นหลักการนี้จริงๆล่ะ้ก้อ จะมีข้อจำกัดในเรื่องอุปกรณ์จริงของเครื่องเรา เนื่องจาก Qemu จะจำลองสภาพแวดล้อมเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์ให้ทั้งหมด เช่น CPU /Display Card /Sound card /Network Card ความยากจะอยู่ตรงที่จะเชื่อมต่ออุปกรณ์แท้กับอุปกรณ์เสมือนได้อย่างไรให้ได้เนียน ...

เดาไปเรื่องเปื่อย หรืออาจจะเป็นอีกรูปแบบคล้าย Putty คือตัว Image จะบรรจุ LiveCD ที่มีหลักการทำงานแบบ Unionfs (ใช้ RAM ช่วยทำงาน) และเข้าไปเพิ่มหัวข้อ Multi Boot ใน MBR ให้ชี้มาที่ Image ดังกล่าว ถ้าเป็นรูปแบบนี้จะเหมือนทำงานด้วย LiveCD แทนที่จะทำงานผ่านซีดีแต่มาอ่านจากฮาร์ดดิสต์แทน ซึ่งน่าจะมีความเร็วกว่า และเครื่องที่ใช้วิธีการดังกล่าวควรมีแรมเยอะหน่อยก็จะดีมาก

ปล.คอมเม้นท์ที่แสดงความคิดเห็นไปนั้น เป็นการเดาทั้งสิ้น ควรฟังหูไว้หู ต้องมีโอกาสใช้ดูถึงจะทราบนิ ...

คุณสมเจตต์ครับ ลองไปหาสเป็คจาก launchpad ได้ครับ

วิธีการของมันเท่าที่อ่านมา คือจะเขียน file config.txt ขึ้นมาใน directory ที่ install โดยเอาข้อมูลฮาร์ดแวร์มาจาก registry ของ windows หลังจากบู้ทครั้งแรก image จะ config สถานะของตัวเองตามคอนฟิกไฟล์ แล้วลบมันทิ้งไป

ก็อปมาลง เลยดีกว่า ผมไม่มีปํญญาอธิบาย GRLDR, a modified version of GRUB, allows dual-booting the loopmounted hard drive image and Windows, and doesn't require any changes to the MBR, as it writes to the Windows boot.ini, so it will be used as the bootloader. This bootloader will be installed at the end of the installation, and the original boot.ini file will be backed up. Once the bootloader is installed, the installer will have a "reboot into ubuntu" button that will restart the system.

edit : get แล้ว พอ shutdown ก็ dump เป็น image เหมือนเดิม - -'' ... ไม่ต่างอะไรจาก live cd ที่ขยาย ขนาดได้ http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=338279&page=3
