เผยชิป 28 คอร์ของอินเทล ไม่ได้ใช้คล็อค 5GHz จริงๆ แต่เป็นการโอเวอร์คล็อค

สัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมาเราเห็น อินเทลสร้างความฮือฮาด้วยชิป 28 คอร์ที่คล็อค 5GHz แต่ดูเหมือนว่าความตื่นเต้นจะไม่เต็มรูปแบบอย่างที่อินเทลโฆษณาไว้ซะแล้ว

ประเด็นสำคัญคือคล็อค 5GHz ที่อินเทลนำมาโชว์ในงานเป็นการโอเวอร์คล็อค และอินเทลใช้ระบบระบายความร้อนด้วยน้ำเย็นที่รองรับพลังงานความร้อนได้ถึง 1.77kW ด้วย นั่นแปลว่าชิปที่วางขายจริงจะมีคล็อคลดลงจาก 5GHz พอสมควร (ตอนนี้ยังไม่มีใครรู้ว่าเท่าไร)

ข้อมูลอื่นๆ ของชิปตัวนี้คือมันดัดแปลงมาจากสถาปัตยกรรม Skylake-SP (Skylake เวอร์ชันคอร์เยอะ) ที่ถูกนำมาใช้ต่อใน Xeon-SP และ Skylake-X เวอร์ชันเดสก์ท็อป, ใช้ซ็อคเก็ต LGA3647 ขนาดใหญ่ตัวเดียวกับ Xeon และผลิตที่กระบวนการขนาด 14 นาโนเมตร

อินเทลประกาศว่าจะวางขายชิป 28 คอร์ตัวนี้ในไตรมาสที่สี่ อีกไม่ช้าคงเริ่มมีรายละเอียดอื่นๆ ออกตามมา

เคยคิดว่า intel คงพัฒนาอะไรไปเยอะแล้วในช่วงเวลา Dual Core / Core2Dou / Core i เพราะช่วงเวลานั้นสภาพ AMD นี่แย่จริงๆ คนเลือกใช้น้อยมาก ต้องเป็นแฟนตัวยง หรือ ประกอบคอมแบบเซฟๆ จริงๆ
ตอน AMD ปล่อย Zen ออกมา ยังแอบคิดว่า intel ก็คงดูเชิงไปก่อน มีของ แต่ทำไมต้องรีบออก เมื่อคู่แข่งยังตามอยู่ไกล

เรื่องบ้าพลังนี่เน้นตูมตาม สร้างภาพการตลาด Intel ควรจะเน้นไปที่ Optane มากกว่า เพราะมันเป็น platform ที่ AMD ทำตามไม่ได้ เช่น ซื้อ i7, i9 แถม Optane บันเดิลมาเลย 32-64 GB overall response เร็วกว่าเห็นๆ

คนเล่น i7, i9 คงใช้ SSD อยู่แล้ว อย่างต่ำ ๆ ก็ SATA แต่ส่วนมากน่าจะใช้ NVMe แถม Optane มา 32 กิก ก็ไม่น่าจะทำให้ SSD system เร็วขึ้นมาได้มากมาย แถมจะทำให้แพงทิ้งห่างจาก Ryzen อีก เผลอ ๆ ราคา i7 Bundle optane 32กิก พอๆกับ Ryzen + SSD NVMe 128 กิก อีก

Optane ทำงาน ประมาณนี้นะครับ
เสียบลงไป; boot windows; ลง driver Optane ลงไป
shadows copy system windows files ที่ไม่ค่อยจะ modify ยกเว้นตอนลง program ไปใส่ใน Optane แทน NVMe Drive
boot ครั้งต่อมา windows จะไปอ่าน shadows copy แทน NVMe Drive เหมือนมี NVMe อีกตัวหนึ่งที่ ลงเฉพาะ windows เท่านั้น แล้วไม่มีอะไรไปยุ่งกับมันเลยไงครับ
NVMe Drive จะวิ่งเต็ม speed แทบตลอดเวลา แทนที่จะเอา speed ตรงนี้ ไปอ่าน system windows files ไงครับ ในกรณีที่ดีที่สุด จะได้ Read Speed เพิ่มมาอีก 2000 MB/s+

คือ IPC มันก็เหนือกว่าคู่แข่งอยู่แล้วนี่ แค่ OC หนีไปโหดๆให้ดูว่ามันมีศักยภาพอีกเยอะแค่ไหน
