Firefox 31 ออกแล้ว, เพิ่มความปลอดภัยในการดาวน์โหลดไฟล์, กล่องค้นหาในแท็บใหม่

Mozilla ได้ออกอัพเดตสำหรับ Firefox รุ่นที่ 31 เวอร์ชันสำหรับเดสก์ท็อป โดยมีของใหม่ดังนี้

  • มีการคัดกรองไฟล์ที่จะดาวน์โหลด ซึ่งทำให้ Firefox สามารถตรวจจับไฟล์ที่อันตรายและสกัดกั้นการดาวน์โหลดที่อาจเป็นอันตรายได้ ทาง Mozilla เองยอมรับว่าสำหรับฟีเจอร์นี้นั้น กำลังอยู่ในช่วงแรกเริ่มของการพัฒนาและไม่ได้ดีไปกว่า Safe Browsing ของ Google Chrome (พัฒนาโดยใช้บริการของ Google)
  • มีกล่องค้นหา (Search box) ตอนขึ้นแท็บใหม่
  • เพิ่มไลบรารีสำหรับตรวจสอบใบอนุญาตตัวใหม่ (mozilla:pkixl) ซึ่งดีกว่าเก่า
  • รองรับ WebVVT ซึ่งเป็นมาตรฐานกลางของ HTML5 ทำให้ผู้ใช้สามารถดูวิดีโอพร้อมคำบรรยายได้

ฟีเจอร์อื่น ๆ ที่เพิ่มเข้ามาสำหรับนักพัฒนานั้นสามารถดูได้ที่ ข่าวเก่า ครับ ส่วน Firefox 31 เวอร์ชันสำหรับแอนดรอยด์นั้นจะตามมาในเร็ว ๆ นี้

  • อัพเดท -> อัพเดต; อนุญาติ -> อนุญาต; เวอร์ชั่น -> เวอร์ชัน; betanews -> BetaNews
  • Library, Subtitle เขียนเป็นภาษาไทยได้
  • ตัด "มีการ" หน้า "รองรับ WebVVT..."
  • "ฟีเจอร์อื่น ๆ ที่เพิ่มเข้ามาสำหรับนักพัฒนานั้นสามารถดูได้ที่ ข่าวเก่า ครับ" ไม่น่าอยู่ในรูป bullet list ของ "โดยมีของใหม่ดังนี้"

ที่จริง Firefox ไม่น่าบ้าจี้ตั้งเลขเวอร์ชันตาม Google Chrome เล้ย

ตั้งเลขเวอร์ชันแบบเดิม (1.x 2.x 3.x) น่ะแหละดีแล้ว ไม่ใช่เพิ่มเลขเวอร์ชันที่ละ 1 แบบ Google Chrome แม้แต่เปลี่ยนแปลงไม่มากอัพเลข 1.0 เวอร์ชัน ไม่ใช่ 0.1 หรือ 0.0.1 เหมือนแบบต่อก่อนแล้ว ทำให้การเปลี่ยนเลขเวอร์ชันดูไม่น่าสนใจเท่าไหร่เลย

ถ้าให้นับ UI ใหม่ที่ใช้มาในช่วง 4.x - 28.x น่าจะเรียกเป็นเวอชัน 4.x.x ได้ ส่วนตอนที่ยกเครื่องใหม่เป็นก็เป็น 5.x.x หรือไม่ถ้าไม่นับเรื่อง UI ก็นับเรื่องการปรับอัพเดตใหญ่ ถึงค่อยอัพเลข 1.0 ก็ยังจะดีซะกว่า

อนาคตคงได้เห็นเวอร์ชัน 1xx.x เหมือนแผ่น QuickPC v.XXX ที่ซื้อกันในสมัยก่อนๆ
