ออราเคิลเปิดตัว Oracle Cloud ที่ปรับเปลี่ยนวิธีทำธุรกิจของบริษัทไปอย่างสิ้นเชิง เนื่องจากซอฟต์แวร์แทบทุกตัวที่เคยขายให้องค์กรไปติดตั้งเอาเอง ถูกยกขึ้นไปอยู่บนกลุ่มเมฆและให้บริการแบบ hosted service แทน

แนวคิดนี้ไม่ใช่เรื่องใหม่ (ไมโครซอฟท์ก็ทำมาแล้วกับ Office 365 ซึ่งมันคือ Exchange/SharePoint เวอร์ชันกลุ่มเมฆ) แต่สิ่งที่น่าสนใจคือออราเคิลมีผลิตภัณฑ์และบริการเยอะมาก การยกทุกอย่างขึ้นไปอยู่บนกลุ่มเมฆจึงทำให้บริการน่าสนใจมากทีเดียว

Larry Ellison เองก็ใช้ตรงนี้เป็นจุดขายโดยพูดว่า "the most comprehensive Cloud on the planet Earth" และเขาบอกว่าเตรียมการเรื่องนี้มา 7 ปีเต็ม

Oracle Cloud แบ่งออกได้เป็น 3 หมวดใหญ่ๆ ครับ

Oracle Cloud Platform Services

บริการระดับแพลตฟอร์ม/โครงสร้างพื้นฐานของออราเคิลที่เราคุ้นชื่อกันดี

• Database Services (Oracle Database)
• Java Services (Oracle WebLogic)
• Developer Services (พัฒนาโปรแกรมกันเป็นทีม)
• Web Services (รองรับ PHP, Ruby, Python)
• Mobile Services (พัฒนาแอพทั้งแบบ native และ HTML5)
• Documents Services (แชร์เอกสารภายในองค์กร)
• Sites Services (บริหารจัดการเว็บไซต์ .com ทั้งหลาย)
• Analytics Services (วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลและออกรายงานต่างๆ)

รวมๆ แล้วบริการพวกนี้น่าจะชนกับพวก Azure, Google App Engine, Heroku ที่เป็นแพลตฟอร์มสำหรับสร้างแอพบนกลุ่มเมฆ (หรือแม้กระทั่ง AWS) ได้ด้วย

Oracle Cloud Application Services

สิ่งที่ผมคิดว่าน่าจับตาที่สุดคือส่วนนี้ มันคือการยกเอาแอพพลิเคชันระดับองค์กรที่ออราเคิลกว้านซื้อไปเยอะในช่วงหลายๆ ปีให้หลังนี้ ยกขึ้นกลุ่มเมฆให้หมด ซึ่งตรงนี้จะชนกับ Salesforce.com แบบเต็มๆ

เนื่องจากศัพท์เฉพาะเยอะและอธิบายจบในตัวเองอยู่แล้ว ขอยกภาษาอังกฤษมาเลยดีกว่านะครับ

ออราเคิลไม่ได้ระบุชื่อแอพมาด้วย แต่บอกว่า "มากกว่า 100 ตัว" และจะรวมซอฟต์แวร์จากบริษัทที่เพิ่งซื้อมาเร็วๆ นี้อย่าง Taleo Corp. กับ RightNow Technologies Inc. ด้วย

Oracle Cloud Social Services

อันนี้มาแบบงงๆ เล็กน้อย แต่มันคือบริการเชื่อมต่อกับ social network สำหรับนักการตลาดออนไลน์ทั้งหลาย (ที่ทำโดยออราเคิล!) ออราเคิลไม่บอกว่าใช้กับเครือข่ายอะไรได้บ้าง แต่ดูคำบรรยายแล้วน่าจะชนกับพวก Buddy Media (ที่โดน Salesforce.com ซื้อไป) หรือซอฟต์แวร์บริหารจัดการ social network อื่นๆ เช่น Hootsuite

• Oracle Social Network to enable secure enterprise collaboration and purposeful social networking for business.
• Oracle Social Data Services to aggregate data from social networks and enterprise data sources to enrich business applications.
• Oracle Social Marketing and Engagement Services to enable marketers to centrally create, publish, moderate, manage, measure and report on their social marketing campaigns.
• Oracle Social Intelligence Services to enable marketers to analyze social media interactions and to enable customer service and sales teams to engage with customers and prospects effectively.

ระบบเซิร์ฟเวอร์ข้างใต้ที่ให้บริการกลุ่มเมฆก็เป็นผลิตภัณฑ์ของออราเคิลเอง เช่น เซิร์ฟเวอร์ตระกูล Oracle Exadata และ Oracle Exalogic ซึ่งการันตีเรื่องความเข้ากันได้กับซอฟต์แวร์ของออราเคิลได้เลย
