Gabe Newell ผู้ก่อตั้ง Valve พูดในงานแถลงข่าวเปิดตัวแว่น Valve Index VR พูดถึงประเด็นที่ทุกคนอยากรู้นั่นคือ Half-Life 3 จะออกเมื่อไร

โดยเขาบอกว่า "หมุดหมาย (milestone) ไม่ใช่จุดจบแต่เป็นจุดเริ่มต้น Half-Life ภาคแรกนำไปสู่ภาค 2, เอนจิน Source ก็นำไปสู่ Source 2, การทดลองใน Team Fortress 2 นำไปสู่ Dota และในสักวัน เลข 2 จะนำเราไปสู่ตัวเลขหนึ่งที่ส่องกระกายบนภูเขาสักแห่ง ขอให้รอกันต่อไป" (maybe someday the number 2 will lead us to that shiny integer glowing on a mountain someplace… we’ll just have to see)

ประโยคข้างต้นคงไม่ได้หมายถึงการยืนยันข่าว Half-Life 3 เพราะในอดีต Gabe Newell หรือพนักงานของ Valve ก็ชอบแกล้งยั่วเรื่องนี้กับแฟนๆ อยู่หลายครั้ง ครั้งนี้คงเป็นอีกครั้งหนึ่งที่เขาออกมาพูดถึงเรื่องนี้นั่นเอง

Half-Life 2 ออกในปี 2004 หรือ 15 ปีที่แล้ว

shiny integer = เลขจำนวนเต็ม
แต่จะเป็นเลขอะไรก็อีกเรื่องนึง

อาจจะเปิดตัวเกมใหม่ เช่น "1948" เป็นเกมบริหารเหมืองทองคำ อะไรก็ว่าไป

น่าจะกำลังทำ HL3 เป็น VR ครับ ช้าขนาดนี้
คงรอเทคโนโลยีและหา best practice ของ VR gameplay อยู่
เพราะถ้าอยากครองโลก VR อะไีจะเหมาะกว่าการทำ HL3 เป็น SteamVR exclusive

จริงๆ HL3 นี่น่าจะมาจากนักข่าวเกมส์ สักหัวนึง ไปถามลุง GebeN ว่าเมื่อไหร่ภาคสามจะออกคั๊บ ตัวที่ค้างไม่ออกซักทีคือ HL2 EP3 พวกเล่นข้ามไปภาค 3 เลย งงสิงง
