[ข่าวลือ] กูเกิลจะเลิกใช้แบรนด์ Blogger และ Picasa

เว็บไซต์ Mashable รายงานข่าววงในว่า กูเกิลจะยกเลิกแบรนด์ Blogger และ Picasa เพราะต้องการเน้นชื่อ "Google" ให้มากขึ้น หลังการเปิดตัว Google+

ตัวบริการ Blogger กับ Picasa จะยังอยู่เหมือนเดิม แต่จะเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น Google Blogs และ Google Photos ตามลำดับ

ในอดีตกูเกิลเคยซื้อผลิตภัณฑ์หลายตัวและเปลี่ยนชื่อมาแล้ว เช่น JotSpot เป็น Google Sites และ GrandCentral มาเป็น Google Voice

ตามข่าวบอกว่ากูเกิลจะประกาศเรื่องเปลี่ยนชื่อภายใน 1-1.5 เดือนข้างหน้านี้ และมีโอกาสที่ผลิตภัณฑ์ตัวอื่นจะถูกเปลี่ยนชื่อด้วย (แต่ YouTube จะไม่เปลี่ยนชื่อแน่นอน)

บางทีผมก็ลืมนะว่า Picasa มันชื่อ โปรแกรมว่าอะไร บางทีจะบอกแนะนำให้เพื่อนๆใช้ก็จำกันไม่ค่อยได้ ผมว่าในแง่การตลาดเมื่อผูกบริการเป็นเนื้อเดียวกันได้แล้วก็สมครใช้ชื่อที่จำง่ายๆ ย่อม้ดีว่าละนะ

แล้วทำไมไม่เปลี่ยนจาก

Blogger เป็น Google Blogger ละเนี่ย จำง่ายด้วย
Picasa เป็น Google Picasa ผมว่ามันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ดีออก พอพูดถึง Picasa คนก็จะได้นึกถึง Google ไปด้วย

แบบเดียวกับ MS Office ถ้าพูดถึง Office คนมักจะนึกถึง MS

ทำให้นึกถึงกรณี Windows Live เลย

ไมโครซอฟท์รีแบรนด์บริการออนไลน์มาเป็น Windows Live แล้วแป้ก หลังๆพยายามตั้งชื่อแยก (แต่ก็ยังโดนแขวะเรื่องชื่อยาว)

ไม่แน่ ต่อไปอาจจะเป็น Google Blog for Bussiness, Google Blog for Education, Google Chrome OS Enterprise Edition บลาๆๆ อะไรแบบนี้ก็ได้มั๊ง

แบรนด์ Blogger น่าจะมี brand vulue สูงมาก
หลายๆ คนอาจรู้จักคำว่า บล๊อก จาก blogger นี่แหล่ะ
เปลี่ยนเป็น Google blogs แล้ว url จะเป็นยังไงหนอ หรือว่าใช้ blogname.blogspot.com เหมือนเดิม
