SoftBank จับมือกองทุนรัฐบาลซาอุฯ ตั้งกองทุนเทคโนโลยีขนาดมหึมา 2.5 ล้านล้านบาท

SoftBank บริษัทไอที-โทรคมนาคมยักษ์ใหญ่ของญี่ปุ่น ประกาศตั้งกองทุน SoftBank Vision Fund เพื่อลงทุนในบริษัทเทคโนโลยีทั่วโลก ในเบื้องต้น กองทุนนี้จะมีเงินทุนอย่างน้อย 70 พันล้านดอลลาร์ (2.47 ล้านล้านบาท) ในอีก 5 ปีข้างหน้า โดยมาจาก

  • SoftBank 25 พันล้านดอลลาร์
  • กองทุน Public Investment Fund ของรัฐบาลซาอุดีอาระเบีย 45 พันล้านดอลลาร์

นอกจากนี้ยังมีกองทุนหรือนักลงทุนรายใหญ่ กำลังเจรเจาเข้าร่วมกับกองทุนนี้ คาดว่ากองทุนอาจมีขนาดใหญ่ถึง 100 พันล้านดอลลาร์ (3.5 ล้านล้านบาท) ในอนาคต

ด้วยเม็ดเงินมหึมาขนาดนี้ กองทุน SoftBank Vision Fund จะกลายเป็นหนึ่งในผู้ลงทุนสายเทคโนโลยีรายใหญ่ที่สุดของโลก ด้านประธาน Masayoshi Son ของ SoftBank ก็ตั้งเป้าว่ากองทุนจะเป็นนักลงทุนเทคโนโลยีรายใหญ่ที่สุดของโลกภายใน 10 ปีนับจากนี้

จุดที่น่าสนใจของกองทุน SoftBank นี้คือมีกองทุน PIF ของซาอุดีอาระเบียเข้าร่วมเป็นนักลงทุนหลัก (lead investor) กองทุน PIF เป็นกองทุนที่นำเงินจากน้ำมันของซาอุดีอาระเบียไปใช้ลงทุนในเรื่องอื่นๆ ทั่วโลก ปัจจุบันกองทุนมีเงิน 160 พันล้านดอลลาร์

นอกเรื่อง ชื่อ Softbank ถ้าแปลตรงๆ จะได้ "ธนาคารละมุน" มันดูแปลกๆ ไม่เหมาะกับขนาดธุรกิจเลยแฮะ

Softbank น่าจะหมายคือธุรกิจที่ไม่ใช่ hard bank ครับ ในที่นี้ bank ธนาบัตรซึ่งแปลความได้ว่าเป็นบริษัททำธุรกิจเกี่ยวกับการเงินการลงทุนไม่จับเป็นธนบัตรแต่เป็นตัวเลข
