ไมโครซอฟท์เริ่มนำแอพพลิเคชันคลาสสิคของ Windows มาแปลงเป็นแอพแบบ UWP ลง Windows Store แล้ว

ตอนนี้แอพ 4 ตัวที่ถูกพอร์ตด้วย Desktop App Converter หรือ Project Centennial เดิม ได้แก่ WordPad, Windows Fax and Scan, XPS Viewer, Microsoft Character Map เปิดให้ดาวน์โหลดผ่าน Windows Store แล้ว แต่คนที่ดาวน์โหลดได้ต้องใช้งาน Windows 10 Insider ด้วย

เว็บไซต์ WinBeta ลองดาวน์โหลดแอพมาทดสอบ พบว่าความสามารถเหมือนต้นฉบับทุกประกาศ และยังต้องใช้เมาส์-คีย์บอร์ดในการสั่งงาน เพราะไม่ได้ออกแบบมารองรับนิ้วสัมผัส รวมถึงไม่มีให้ใช้งานบน Windows 10 Mobile ด้วย

ถ้าหัวข่าว "แปลงเป็นแอป UWP แล้ว" นี่จะซ้ำกับข่าวนี้นะครับ ไมโครซอฟท์ทำแอป Paint เป็น UWP, แปลงแอปหลักอย่าง WordPad ขึ้น Windows Store น่าจะเป็น "เปิดให้ดาวน์โหลดบน Windows Store แล้ว" มากกว่า

เพื่อไม่ให้ผูกกับ OS ครับ (แต่ต้องรอ update ของ Windows 10 ที่เอา app พวกนี้ออกก่อน)
ถ้ามีแก้ไข หรือ update อะไร จะได้ไม่ต้องรอออกพร้อม Patch ของ OS สามารถ update ได้ทันที

กำลัง งง ว่าจะทำ UWP ทำไม ถ้าจะให้ Mobile ใช้ไม่ได้? สงสัยกับแอพตัวอื่นๆด้วยนะครับ จุดประสงค์มันคือ แอพเดียวรันทุกแพลตฟอร์มไม่ใช่เหรอ

With Windows 10 you no longer target an operating system but you instead target your app to one or more device families. A device family identifies the APIs, system characteristics, and behaviors that you can expect across devices within the device family. It also determines the set of devices on which your app can be installed from the Store.
