Seagate ผู้นำด้านหน่วยความจำเปิดตัวฮาร์ดดิสก์แบบเดี่ยว ขนาด 3.5" ความจุ 8TB ตัวแรกของโลก รองรับ SATA ที่ความเร็ว 6Gbps หลังจากที่ค้างที่ 6TB มาซักพัก

โดย Seagate อ้างว่า กำลังไฟที่ใช้ต่อความจุนั้นถือว่ามีประสิทธิภาพที่สุดในปัจจุบัน และยังทำให้ประหยัดพื้นที่ต่อความจุในศูนย์ข้อมูลอีกด้วย

ตอนนี้จะส่งมอบให้กับลูกค้าในวงจำกัดเท่านั้น และคาดว่าจะส่งมอบได้ทั่วไปตั้งแต่ช่วงสิ้นปีนี้ ทั้งนี้ยังไม่ได้ระบุราคาขายปลีกแต่อย่างใด

HDD มีจานแม่เหล็ก 4อันครับ ส่วนใหญ่จะเห็นได้ว่าความจุจะเป็นการเพิ่มแบบที่/4 ลงตัว ตัวก่อนความจุ 1TB(256GBx4) 2TB(512GBx4) 4TB(1TBx4)

ไม่จำเป็นต้องมี platter 4 อันเสมอไปนะครับ ขึ้นอยู่กับผู้ผลิตจะเลือกใช้ platter ความจุเท่าไหร่
เช่นบางรุ่นอาจจะเป็น 500GB x 2 = 1TB หรือ บางรุ่นอาจเป็น 250GB x 4 = 1TB ก็ได้

ลองอ่านใน http://rml527.blogspot.com/2010/09/hdd-platter-capacity-database.html ก็ได้ครับ

การใช้จำนวน platter ต่อ hard disk หนึ่งตัวก็มีผลต่อความเร็ว อัตราบริโภคพลังงาน และราคาด้วยครับ

ราคา HDDมันนิ่งมาสามปีแล้ว ตั้งแต่หลังน้ำท่วม ขึ้นแล้วลงมาหน่อยแต่นิ่งยาวๆ ผมซื้อ 3TB external 3.5" มาตัวละปี(ปี55,56,57) ราคา 3990,4190,4290 สรุปแพงขึ้นเสียอีก(น่าจะขึ้นเพราะค่าเงินบาทอ่อนด้วย) -_-"

ราคาตัวอื่นๆก็ไม่ต่างกัน งงว่าคงถึงยุคเทคโนโลยีมันนิ่งๆแล้วหรือ?

เพราะเวลา Harddisk เริ่มมีอาการเสีย เวลานั้นล่ะ ย้ายไฟล์หนีไป Harddisk ลูกสำรองกันจ้าละหวั่น แถมนานแสนนานมากๆ และถ้าหากไม่มีลูกที่มีพื้นที่เท่ากับที่ใช้ นั่นคือหายนะ เพราะเราจะต้องสูญเสียไฟล์ไปเยอะแยะล่ะครับ แถมตอนที่กำลังย้ายไฟล์เกิด Harddisk มันเจ๊งก่อนที่จะย้ายหมด ก็เท่ากับสูญเสียไฟล์เช่นกัน

ถ้าเป็นคนที่ใช้แบบต่อ Raid ที่ทำให้ข้อมูล harddisk 2 ลูกมีข้อมูลเหมือนกัน มันก็อีกเรื่องล่ะ แต่นั่นเท่ากับต้องเปลืองค่าไฟ 2 เท่า (ในส่วนของ harddisk) บนพื้นที่ Harddisk ที่เท่ากัน (8 TB) และเสียเงินซื้อ 2 เท่า... แต่ก็แลกมาด้วยข้อมูลที่ปลอดภัยมากขึ้น
