Prices in Thailand is tax-inclusive (tax is already included). In many countries (Canada, which is where I am now, included) prices is tax-exclusive. When you see price in the label or in the store, even if it's online, you have to do some calculation on the price. For example, if I bought 16GB Nexus7 here, the price is CDN209, but I end up paying CDN236, including 13% HST(Harmonized Sales Tax).

(In Canada Nexus 7 is 10 dollars more expensive in every model).

Still that does not added up. Even if the tax is inclusive, the price would be only 249+7% (Thailand VAT) = ~$266 = ~BHT8000. The missing factor would be the volume. I believe ASUS Thailand underestimate the demand, and decided to order only 200 of Nexus 7. Shipping only 200 7" tablets does not even fill the container, thus the shipping cost would be very expensive. Shipping very large volume into the US lower shipping cost a lot, although the distant between the factory to US is more than to Thailand (that's why we see prices in The US is generally lower than in Thailand, with exception of some products made in Thailand like Sony headphone). Remember that the Nexus 7 is now almost a million per month sales, I guess there would be more than 10,000 per shipment to the US.
