Microsoft จะเปลี่ยนชื่อ Metro UI หลังมีปัญหาด้านสิทธิ์ในการใช้ชื่อ

สำนักข่าว Ars Technica ได้รับรายงานจากแหล่งข่าวรายหนึ่ง ซึ่งบอกว่า Microsoft จะใช้ชื่อใหม่แทนคำว่า "Metro" เนื่องจากบริษัท Metro AG (บริษัทร้านค้าปลีกชื่อดัง มีสาขาในประเทศไทยด้วย) สัญชาติเยอรมันได้ส่งคนเพื่อไปสั่งให้ Microsoft ยกเลิกการใช้ชื่อ "Metro" ในสินค้าของ Microsoft ทุกชนิดเป็นที่เรียบร้อยแล้ว

โฆษกของ Microsoft ก็ให้ความเห็นเกี่ยวกับข่าวนี้ว่า "Metro" เป็นเพียงรหัสพัฒนา user interface เท่านั้น และในอีกไม่นานจะเปลี่ยนเครื่องหมายทางการค้าของบริษัท แทนคำว่า Metro ซึ่งมีปัญหาอยู่ตอนนี้

ทางด้านนักพัฒนา Microsoft แนะนำว่าไม่ควรใช้ชื่อ Metro แต่ควรจะเรียกว่า New User Interface และจะเรียก user interface ในสไตล์ Metro ว่า Windows 8-style UI (จากเดิมชื่อ Metro-style UI) แทน

ผมว่าชื่อ "Metro" ก็น่าฟังอยู่หรอก อาจจะมีข่าวต่อไปว่า Microsoft ซื้อกิจการ Metro AG

But sources are telling us that this is coming to an abrupt end after the company's Legal and Corporate Affairs team sent out a memo banning the word "Metro." LCA's memo reportedly says that Microsoft has been threatened with legal action for infringing on "Metro" trademarks held by German retailer Metro AG.

From now on, the new terminology that Microsoft is using is "Windows 8-style UI" when talking about Windows 8 applications, and "New User Interface" when talking about the company's full product line-up.

  • "ของมัน" มันหมายถึง Metro หรือครับ? ถ้าใช่น่าจะเรียบเรียงข่าวผิดครับ ดูต้นฉบับได้จากข้างล่าง

We have used 'Metro style' as a code name during the product development cycle across many of our product lines. As we get closer to launch and transition from industry dialog to a broad consumer dialog we will use our commercial names.

Update: A spokesperson is now saying the reason for this Metro de-emphasis is not related to any litigation. (I asked if it is related to any kind of copyright dispute that hasn't yet gone to litigation and was told there would be no further comment.)

  • ย้ำอีกครั้งว่าเนื้อข่าวไม่ได้ระบุจะทำให้คำว่า "Metro" เป็นเครื่องหมายการค้าครับ

  • สัญชาติเยอรมนี -> สัญชาติเยอรมัน; เปลียน -> เปลี่ยน

  • แอบสะดุดตาตรงประเทศไทย ... Metro AG อ้างจาก Wikipedia? พอไล่ดูเว็บขององค์กรจริงเหมือนจะไม่ทำธุรกิจในไทยแล้ว?
  • เอา "สัญชาติเยอรมัน" ไปต่อท้าย "บริษัทร้านค้าปลีกชื่อดัง"

ป.ล. ที่ผมคอมเมนต์เรื่อง Metro AG ไม่ใช่ผมว่างนะครับ แต่ถ้าไม่คุ้นคำใดจริงๆ เช่น ชื่อองค์กรที่เราไม่รู้จัก ผมแนะนำว่าควรพยายามหาข้อมูลจากเว็บของแหล่งข้อมูลจริงๆ อาทิ เว็บองค์กร ครับ

ไม่รู้ว่าคุณ mk จะคิดยังไงกับการทิ้งข่าวนี้ไว้แล้วเขียน (สร้าง) ข่าวใหม่ แต่ส่วนตัวไม่ว่าจะรูปแบบใดก็แล้วแต่ ควรรวบรวมข่าวจากหลายแหล่งที่เกิดขึ้นก่อนเวลาที่จะเขียนข่าว หากนับถึงจุดนี้ก็จะมีข่าวจาก I Started Something ผ่าน The Verge อีก ยังไงก็รบกวนเรียบเรียงผสมลงไปด้วยครับ

คือช่วงนั้นมีข่าวบน Timeline ของ Twitter เลยกะจะอัพเดตแบบทันด่วนผ่านมือถือ เพื่อจะให้สมาชิกมาแสดงความเห็นได้เร็วขึ้นครับ การสร้างข่าวใหม่ก็คือว่าถ้าข่าวมันเก่าแล้วก็จะอยู่หน้าอื่น จากสถิติส่วนใหญ่มักจะให้ความสนใจในหน้าแรกมากที่สุดครับ ถ้าไม่ได้ก็ไม่เป็นไรครับ เดี๋ยวจะแก้ไขให้แล้วอย่างไรใน Twitter ก็จะมีอัพเดตเองครับ

ผมคิดว่าปัญหาของคุณคือไปมุ่งเน้นเรื่องการใช้สำนวนหวือหวาหรือเน้นข่าวด่วนดังเพื่อเรียกคนดู-คนคอมเมนต์ ทั้งที่คุณยังไม่เข้าใจเรื่องราวมันจริงๆ อย่างถ่องแท้เท่าไรนัก สิ่งที่ตามมาคือข่าวไม่ผ่านมาตรฐาน ต้องแก้แล้วแก้อีก ซึ่งเปลืองทรัพยากรมากทั้งฝ่ายของคุณเอง และฝ่ายของคนที่เข้ามาช่วยแก้

การแก้แล้วแก้อีกมันไม่สนุกหรอกครับ ผมก็ขี้เกียจมาตามแก้ คุณเองก็คงไม่ชอบที่จะโดนข่าวถูกแก้แล้วแก้อีกเหมือนกัน

ข้อเสนอของผมคือ ขอให้ใจเย็นๆ เน้นคุณภาพมากกว่าปริมาณ-ความเร็วครับ ลองไปนั่งไตร่ตรองดีๆ ว่าเข้ามาเขียนข่าวที่ Blognone ไปเพื่ออะไรกันแน่

เปลี่ยนป็น Microsoft windows metro style theme for windows 8 ซะดีมะ รู้สึกว่าหลัง ๆ จะมีปัญหาเรื่องชื่อกันมากมายจริง ๆ หรือจะตั้งชื่อตามปีไปเลยดีมะ MMXII ไปเลย
