บริษัท Canonical ออกมาประกาศฟีเจอร์ของ Ubuntu รุ่นหน้า 12.10 ว่าจะสามารถรันเว็บแอพได้ในตัว

ในแง่ของการนำเว็บแอพมารันบนเดสก์ท็อปคงไม่ใช่เรื่องใหม่ (ที่ชัดๆ เลยคือ IE9 โฆษณาฟีเจอร์ pin site) แต่กรณีของ Ubuntu จะพิเศษตรงการผสานการทำงานของเว็บแอพเข้ากับส่วนต่างๆ ของเดสก์ท็อป เช่น แจ้งเตือนผ่านระบบ notification ของ Ubuntu ได้, การล็อกอินเข้าเว็บแอพใช้ร่วมกับหน้าจอตั้งค่า Online Account ของระบบ, อัพรูปภาพจากโปรแกรม Shotwell หรือใช้งาน Twitter ร่วมกับโปรแกรม Gwibber ได้เลย (ดูวิดีโอประกอบ)

ฟีเจอร์นี้จะมีเวอร์ชันพรีวิวมาลง Ubuntu 12.04 LTS ก่อนในเร็วๆ นี้ และจะมาพร้อมกับ Ubuntu 12.10 ในตัว

ubuntu เหมือนจะมีอะไรใหม่ ๆ เยอะนะครับ แต่ผมกลับมองว่าเขากำลังตกรถเรื่อง touch screen (เหมือนจะทำ แต่ก็ครึ่ง ๆ กลาง ๆ เน้น keyborad mouse เหมือนเดิม) สุดท้าย linux อาจถูก android กลืนทั้งหมดก็เป็นได้ (ถ้านับ android เป็นคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ใช้ linux แล้วลองเทียบกับ market share linux ทั้งโลกตอนนี้ คงเห็นอะไรที่น่าตกใจ) และอย่าคิดว่า android ลงตลาด server ไม่ได้นะครับ (android มันก็เป็น ui ส่วนด้านหลัง เป็น linux ทั้งหมด อะไรที่ linux ใช้ได้ ก็น่าจะใช้ได้หมด)

ผมคิดว่า Ubuntu หรือพวก Linux ให้ประสพการณ์ที่ดีสุดสำหรับ developer. พวก perl, python, node.js หรือพวก java c. จุดแข็งคือพวก package manager กับความอิสระในการปรับอะไรก็ได้เกี่ยวกับตัวมันเอง
ถ้า Ubuntu อยากได้ touch ดีๆ ก็แค่สร้าง shell ใหม่, store ใหม่ ข้างส่างเหมือนเดิมหมด แต่ใจจริงผมว่าไม่จำเป็นเลย
