กูเกิลเปิดฟอนต์ Google Sans Flex ให้ใช้งานฟรี ไลเซนส์แบบเปิด

สัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา กูเกิลออกฟอนต์ชื่อ Google Sans Flex ซึ่งเป็นฟอนต์หลักที่หน้าเว็บกูเกิลใช้งานในปัจจุบัน เปิดให้กับสาธารณะใช้งาน ตัวฟอนต์ใช้ไลเซน์แบบเปิดคือ SIL Open Font License

ฟอนต์ปัจจุบันของกูเกิลคือฟอนต์ตระกูล Google Sans ส่วนการเพิ่มคำว่า Flex เข้ามา หมายถึงเป็นฟอนต์การเป็นฟอนต์แบบ variable ที่ยืดหยุ่นมากๆ ทั้งน้ำหนัก (weight) ความกว้างตัวอักษร (width) ขนาด (optical size) ความเอียง (slant) จุดปลายเส้น (terminal) ที่นำไปปรับแต่งต่อได้อีกมาก

ฟอนต์ Google Sans Flex ยังมีเฉพาะตัวอักษรภาษาละตินเท่านั้น แปลว่าไม่มีตัวอักษรภาษาไทยและภาษาเอเชียอื่นๆ

โดยส่วนตัวแล้ว เหตุผลหนึ่งที่ไม่สามารถทนใช้ Android ได้ ก็เพราะรับไม่ได้กับฟอนต์หน้าตาอัปลักษณ์อย่าง Droid Sans Thai ที่พยัญชนะ สระ วรรณยุกต์แลดูไม่สมส่วนพิกลพิการไปหมด โทรศัพท์จะสวย จะมีฟีเจอร์พิเศษเลอเลิศพิศดารแค่ไหน ก็ดู chep ทันทีที่แสดงผลเป็นภาษาไทยด้วยฟอนต์นี้

ดูอย่าง Apple แอปเปิลเขาบ้าง ฟอนต์ Thonburi คือความพิเศษเลิศล้ำที่สวยทั้งในและนอกจอ จะดูในจอก็สวย พริ้นท์ออกมาก็สวย มันแสดงถึงความใส่ใจในรายละเอียดที่ Android ไม่เคยมีให้

ล่าสุดเห็นว่ามี Google Sans แต่ผ่านมา 1 ปีก็ยังใช้ได้เฉพาะกับ Pixel เท่านั้น

จำได้ว่าตอน Pixel ปล่อย Android 15 ตัวพรีวิวออกมา ตัว UI แทบทั้งหมดใช้ฟอนต์ Google Sans นี่แหละครับ มาทั้งตัวละตินตัวไทย แต่อยู่ดี ๆ ตัวไทยกลับลำมาใช้ตัว Droid Sans Thai ที่ทุเรศทุรังซะงั้น ตัวละตินยังเป็น Google Sans อยู่

ถ้าใช้แอนดรอยด์ยี่ห้อที่เปลี่ยนฟอนต์ได้ก็สบายไปเปลาะนึง แต่ก็อยากได้ Google Sans เป็นดีฟอลต์อยู่ดี
