เหมาๆ Norton ควบรวม Avast ด้วยดีลมูลค่ากว่า 8 พันล้านดอลลาร์สหรัฐ

NortonLifeLock เตรียมควบรวมกับ Avast ด้วยดีลมูลค่าประมาณ 8.1-8.6 พันล้านดอลลาร์ (ตามแต่การลงคะแนนของผู้ถือหุ้น Avast) ดีลนี้จะทำให้ NortonLifeLock กลายเป็นเจ้าของหุ้นทั้งหมดของ Avast และผนวกรวมกันกลายเป็นอาณาจักรแอนตี้ไวรัสขนาดยักษ์ที่มีผู้ใช้รวมกันกว่า 500 ล้านคน หลัง Norton ซื้อ Avira ช่วงเดือนธันวาคม 2020

Vincent Pilette ซีอีโอของ NortonLifeLock ระบุว่าการควบรวมครั้งนี้จะเสริมความแข็งแกร่งของบริการให้กับผู้ใช้มากกว่า 500 ล้านคนได้ในอนาคต และทำให้บริษัทสามารถเร่งนวัตกรรมใหม่ๆ ที่จะมาเปลี่ยนแปลงโลกความปลอดภัยไซเบอร์ได้ดียิ่งขึ้น

รวมกันเป็น Norton เจ้าเดียวเลย
แล้วต่อไป Avast Free จะยังเหลือไม๊เนี่ย คนที่ไม่อยากใช้ของเถื่อน ใช้กันเยอะอยู่นะ ตัวนี้

จากที่ซื่อใช้งานมากเกือบ 10 ปี ตัว Norton ทำเครื่องหน่วงน้อยกว่า Windows defender ครับ

การปรับแต่งค่อนข้างโอเค มีรายละเอียดเยอะกว่า ว่าง่ายๆ มันจะ basic มันก็ไหว มันจะทำอะไร advance มันก็ทำได้

แต่ถ้ารับ Windows defender ได้ มันก็ไม่ใช่ตัวเลือกที่แย่

ผมใช้ Norton มาเกิน 5 ปี สิ่งที่ชอบคือ

  • มี log ย้อนหลังว่าลงโปรแกรมอะไรวันไหน เคยใช้ประโยชน์​ตอนเครื่องรวน ๆ เลยไล่ย้อนลบ และเคยจับสังเกตโปรแกรมแปลก ๆ ที่ลงมาพร้อมกับโปรแกรมที่เราใช้ ก็เลยไปลบได้ตรงจุด
  • มี log โปรแกรมที่ใช้ cpu และ ram สูงสุดในแค่ละช่วง ทำให้แก้โปรแกรมเอ๋อแล้วกิน cpu ในช่วงที่กำลังเล่นเกมหรือช่วง idle (ซึ่งช่วงนั้นไม่ทันสังเกต เลยต้องดู log ย้อนหลัง)
  • setting ต่าง ๆ ได้ละเอียด​กว่าของ windows (เช่นพวกอนุญาติบางโฟลเดอร์​)

ผมยอมรับเลยว่าไม่เคย ไม่มอง AV พวกนี้เลย ยังสงสัยอยู่เลยว่าทำไมยังอยู่และมูลค่ายังสูงอยู่ด้วย แอบคิดว่ามันน่าจะหายไปเหมือนพวก Winamp อะไรประมาณนั้น

Windows defender ในระบบบริษัทสามารถทำสิ่งที่ไม่รู้เจ้าอื่นทำได้ไหม คือการห้ามใช้คอมเครื่องนั้น

ส่วนเรื่องvirus signature database เหมือนทุกวันนี้จะแชร์กันหมด คือไม่ว่าเจ้าไหนเจอก่อน เจ้าอื่นก็จะรู้เหมือนกัน
