KT ผู้ให้บริการโทรศัพท์มือถือของเกาหลี เตรียมขยายบริการเครือข่ายเพื่อปรับปรุงคุณภาพการเชื่อมต่ออินเทอร์เน็ต รองรับปริมาณผู้ใช้ Netflix ที่เพิ่มสูงขึ้น และพบปัญหาการร้องเรียนจากสมาชิก Netflix เรื่องการเชื่อมต่ออินเทอร์เน็ต ทำให้คุณภาพวิดีโอต่ำ

นับเป็นผู้ให้บริการอินเทอร์เน็ตรายที่สามในเกาหลีที่ต้องอัพเกรดเครือข่ายครั้งใหญ่ หลัง Netflix ได้รับความนิยมสูง

ในการรับชมวิดีโอจาก Netflix คุณภาพระดับ HD ผู้ใช้จะต้องมีความเร็วของอินเทอร์เน็ตในการเชื่อมต่อที่ 5 Mbps หรือเร็วกว่านั้น หากต้องการชมวิดีโอแบบ Ultra HD จะต้องมีความเร็วของอินเทอร์เน็ตที่ 25 Mbps

Netlifx ไม่ได้รายงานยอดผู้ใช้ในเกาหลีโดยตรง แต่จากรายงานของ Wise App จำนวนผู้ใช้ Netflix บนอุปกรณ์ Android ในเกาหลีเพิ่มขึ้นจาก 340,000 รายในเดือนมกราคม ปี 2561 เป็น 1.27 ล้านรายในเดือนธันวาคมของปีเดียวกัน

ปริมาณผู้ใช้ที่เพิ่มขึ้นมากเช่นนี้ส่งผลให้เครือข่ายต้องขยายแบนวิดท์มาแล้วหลายราย โดย SK Broadband เพิ่งเพิ่มแบนด์วิดท์ออกต่างประเทศเป็น 100Gbps เพื่อรองรับการใช้งาน
