หลังจากข่าวแอปเปิลเปลี่ยนไปใช้อินเทล และแอปเปิลได้ขายชุด Devopment Kit ที่ประกอบด้วยอินเทลแมครุ่นสำหรับนักพัฒนา (ซึ่งก็คือพีซีธรรมดา + ส่วนที่แอปเปิลโมเข้าไป) กับ MacOSX Tiger รุ่นสำหรับซีพียูอินเทล ที่ล็อกเอาไว้ในรันบนเครื่องรุ่นที่ว่านี้เท่านั้น
ก็อย่างที่หลายๆ คนหวังครับ คือ มีคนแฮกให้เอา Tiger (รุ่นสำหรับ x86 ซึ่งไม่มีวางจำหน่าย ต้องหาเอาตาม torrent) มารันบนพีซีปกติได้แล้ว กรรมวิธีมีสองทาง ทางแรกคือใช้ VMWare เข้าช่วย และทางที่สองคือใช้รุ่นที่โมแล้วของ Tiger ซึ่งจะข้ามขั้นตอนการตรวจเช็คของแอปเปิลไป (คล้ายๆ กับแผ่นก็อปของ PS2 ประมาณนั้นล่ะ) ข้อจำกัดนอกจากคุณจะต้องมี Tiger รุ่นที่ว่าแล้ว ยังจำเป็นต้องใช้ซีพียูรุ่นที่มีชุดคำสั่ง SSE3 ในการแปลงโค้ดด้วย Rosetta ด้วย (มันคืออะไร? อ่านได้จากข่าวเก่าในหมวด Special Report) มิฉะนั้นคุณจะสามารถรันได้เฉพาะบางโปรแกรมที่เป็น x86 native เท่านั้น
เผอิญว่าผมไม่สามารถเข้าเว็บของแบบที่สองได้แล้ว ถ้าอยากดูรูป (OSX บน Vaio) สามารถดูได้ที่ Engadget สำหรับข่าวมีเยอะ ทั้งที่ Slashdot และ Wired
สำหรับผมเองแล้วก็ไม่น่าแปลกใจนัก และถึงรันได้จริงแต่ยุ่งยากขนาดนี้ก็คงใช้งานจริงไม่ได้มากอยู่ดี ถ้ามองในมุมนึง ก็เป็นโอกาสอันดีสำหรับแอปเปิลในการเพิ่มกรรมวิธีป้องกันที่มากกว่าเดิมในรุ่นจริงปีหน้า ส่วนอีกมุมนึงที่นักวิเคราะห์หลายๆ คนคาดกันไว้ก็คือ conspiracy theory ที่แอปเปิลปล่อยให้รัน OSX แบบลับๆ ด้วยเหตุผลแล้วแต่จะคิด ซึ่งพวกนี้ก็เป็นหน้าที่ของคนอ่านจะคิดเอาเองแล้วล่ะครับ เพราะว่าบริษัทนี้ Everything is Secret!

ส่วนตัวเองมองว่ามีความเป็นไปได้อย่างมากเลยเป็นความคิดของแอปเปิลเอง ที่จะให้เกิน pirate แบบนี้ขึ้นมา
เพราะทุกวันนี้ที่ไม่อยากย้ายไปแมคทั้งๆ ที่รู้สึกว่ามันดีเพราะไม่เคยใช้ แนวคิดแบบนี้ไมโครซอฟท์รู้ดี ถึงได้ไม่เคยปล่อยมาตรการรุนแรงอะไรออกมากับซอฟท์แวร์เถื่อน เพราะว่ามันจะทำให้คนกลัวและโอเพ่นซอร์สเกิดได้อย่้างรวดเร็ว
ถ้าเครื่องที่บ้านลง OSX ใช้เล่นอยู่สักพัก คงไม่ใช่เรื่องแปลกอะไรที่เครื่องต่อไปจะซื้อแมค ตัวแมคเองไม่เสียผลประโยชน์เท่าใหร่ เพราะคนใช้ OSX กับพีซีนั้นเดิมก็ไม่ใช่กลุ่มที่จะมาซื้อแมคอยู่แล้ว เมื่อเขาได้ลองแล้วซื้อเครื่องแมคเพื่อความสะดวก แอปเปิลยังไงก็ได้ประโยชน์ เพราะขายเครื่องพ่วงไปกับโอเอส
ที่น่ากลัวคือจะมียี่ห้อเล็กๆ ออกมาทำเครื่องประเภท Nearly Apple คือทำให้ฮาร์ดแวร์ข้างในคล้ายๆ กับเครื่องแอปเปิลมากๆ เพื่อจะได้ลง OSX ที่แก้เรื่อง DRM แล้วง่ายขึ้น ตรงนั้นแอปเปิลจะจัดการยังไงล่ะน่าสนใจ

AMD will be added later. Basically, it takes an expensive board and processor.
The cheap setup is Celeron D with a budget board, together, they can be had for about $110. The cheapest board does not show up in the search (as well as a few others, not sure why, I need to look into it). This BIOSTAR U8668 D, and the cheapest Celeron D processor you can find is the cheapest. See this thread (thanks Macgirl).
