Gentoo Linux 2008.0 ออกแล้ว ความสามารถใหม่มีดังนี้

  • ปรับปรุงตัวติดตั้ง
  • เปลี่ยนมาใช้เคอร์เนล 2.6.24 ซึ่งรองรับฮาร์ดแวร์มากขึ้น
  • สำหรับ LiveCD จะเปลี่ยนจาก GNOME มาเป็น Xfce
  • ในเวอร์ชันนี้ยังไม่มี LiveDVD

ดาวนโหลดได้จาก Get Gentoo! สำหรับผู้ใช้ x86 ต้องดาวน์โหลด Minimal CD/InstallCD ขนาดประมาณ 140MB มาติดตั้งก่อน แล้วดาวน์โหลดซอร์สของแพกเกจมาคอมไพล์เองต่อ

ถามคนเคยใช้หน่อยครับ มันเร็วกว่า binary มากมั้ยครับ ถ้าตีซะว่า compile เองแบบไม่ค่อยรู้ parameter ในแต่ละ app นัก

เร็วกว่าครับ ขนาดที่เคยลองเปลี่ยนมาใช้ Ubuntu แล้วทำใจไม่ได้
