ซันจ้างนักพัฒนา JRuby

ระยะหลังเราได้เห็นข่าว IronPython กันมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ทางฝั่งจาวาเองงานนี้ก็ไม่ยอมน้อยหน้า โดยทางซันได้จ้างเอา Charles Nutter และ Thomas Enebo สองนักพัฒนา JRuby เข้ามาทำงานที่ซันเรียบร้อยแล้ว โดยทางซันระบุชัดเจนว่าทั้งสองจะยังคงทำงานบนโครงการ JRuby เต็มเวลา เพื่อให้ JRuby ก้าวไปยังรุ่น 1.0 ให้เร็วที่สุด แต่ยังคงต้องวางแผนเพื่อให้ภาษา Ruby นั้นเข้าถึงความสามารถของจาวาได้อย่้างครบถ้วน

รูปแบบการจ้างงานแบบนี้แทบจะเป็นรูปแบบเดียวกับตอนที่ไมโครซอฟท์จ้าง Jim Hugunin เพื่อไปพัฒนา IronPython ให้ทางไมโครซอฟท์ สำหรับเรื่องของไลเซนส์นั้นทางซันระบุว่ายังคงเป็นไลเซนส์เดิมเช่นเดียวกับตอนที่ทั้งสองยังไม่ได้ร่วมงานกับทางซัน คือ tri-license (CPL/GPL/LGPL)

ที่น่าสนใจกว่านั้นคือ Ruby on Rails นั้นสามารถทำงานบน JRuby ได้ด้วย แม้อาจจะยังไม่สมบูรณ์แบบ แต่นี่อาจจะเป็นสัญญาณว่าอนาคตเราอาจจะไม่ต้องมาถกกันว่า Ruby จะมาแทนจาวาหรือไม่

เพราะมันอาจจะรวมตัวกันไปเลยก็เป็นได้....

roofimon: programmer ที่ใช้ Ruby อยู่แล้วน่าจะเยอะกว่า programmer ภาษา groovy? อย่างไรก็ตาม ภาษาพวกนี้เรียนใหม่ไปมาก็ใช้เวลาไม่นาน ที่นานอาจจะเป็นการเรียนรู้การใช้ stdlib ของ Java?
