สิบปีที่แล้วของวันนี้ ไมเคิล เดลล์ เจ้าของ บริษัทเดลล์คอมพิวเตอร์ บริษัทขนาดใหญ่จากรัฐเทกซัส ได้พูดออกมาว่า "ถ้าเป็นเจ้าของแอปเปิล จะปิดบริษัททิ้งและคืนเงินแก้หุ้นส่วน

สิบปีต่อมา มูลค่าของบริษัทแอปเปิลเท่ากับ 140,400 ล้านเหรียญสหรัฐ ในขณะที่ บริษัทเดลล์ มีมูลค่า 62,270 ล้านเหรียญสหรัฐ ต่างกันสองเท่าตัวกว่า อย่างไรก็ตาม ไมเคิล เดลล์ มีเงินส่วนตัวประมาณ 15,000 ล้านเหรียญ ในขณะที่ สตีฟ จอบส์ มี 4,900 ล้านเหรียญ ซึ่งต่างกันสามเท่าตัว

ที่บริษัทผม ถ้า PC กับพวก Server ก็ Dell เป็นหลักเลยครับ
สำหรับผมเลือก Dell เพราะมันไม่แพงนัก แล้วก็หน้าตา การผลิต คุณภาพวัสดุ การเดินสายภายใน feature ต่างๆ เข้าท่าสุดแล้วในบรรดา PC สำหรับสำนักงาน
อีกอย่างเขาว่าบริการหลังการขายดี เท่าที่มีการเคลมของไปนิดหน่อย ก็อยู่ในระดับที่พอใจครับ

แต่สั่งซื้อยากชิบเป๋ง ไม่รู้ทำไมไม่ยอมรับ order ตรง มีการโทรมาบอกประมาณว่าให้ซื้อผ่าน dealer ด้วย ตอนแรกโทรไปถามรายละเอียด บอกว่าซื้อตรงได้ ไม่มีปัญหาอะไร

เคยหงุดหงิดจะโทรไปงอน บอกจะไปซื้อ IBM หรือ HP แล้ว (แต่ไม่ชอบ คอมพ์ HP เท่าไหร่) ดันไม่ยอมรับสายซะอย่างงั้น

เป็นเพราะเขาอยากให้ Dealer นั้นมีชีวิตอยู่ได้ไงครับ ไม่งั้นใครก็ไม่ซื้อผ่าน dealer แล้ว dealer จะเอาที่ไหนกิน

เหตุผลนั้นก็เข้าใจอยู่ละครับ แต่สำหรับผม ผมไม่คิดว่าผมน่าจะต้องแบกรับภาระชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ของ dealer นี่ครับ

ไม่งั้นถ้าทำตลาดผ่าน dealer อย่างเดียว ก็ไม่น่าจะรับตรงตั้งแต่แรก บริษัทในเครืออีกบริษัท ก็ซื้อตรงได้

เคยคุยกับ dealer เพื่อขอซื้อ Dell Server แต่ dealer บอกว่าเค้างอน Dell อยู่ เพราะเคยขอราคาไป เค้ากลับให้ราคากับ dealer เป็นราคาเดียวกับที่ Dell ขายปลีกให้ลูกค้าเลย

ยังงงๆ อยู่ว่า Dell ประเทศไทยนี่ จะเน้นขายตรงเหมือนที่ US หรือเปล่า เพราะติดต่อเองก็ไม่ (ค่อยจะ) ได้ dealer ก็ไม่อยากขายให้

สงสัยจะกลับไปตายรังกับ ASUS

ผมว่าที่ได้ 140,400 เพราะ apple สามารถทำให้ ipod กลายเป็นสินค้าทางวัฒนธรรม
ถ้าเอาไปลงทุนอย่างอื่น ป่านนี้คงโดน Dell และ Microsoft เหยีบจมธรณีไปแล้ว

ผมว่าของเดลล์ทำออกมาคุณภาพค่อนข้างดีนะครับ (อันนี้ไม่นับรวมแบตเตอรี่ที่มีระบบทำลายตัวเองที่ OEM มาจากโซนี่)

ส่วนเรื่องดีไซน์ ถ้าเป็นตระกูล XPS ผมว่าก็โอเคอยู่นะ เสียอย่างเดียวเดลล์ไทยแลนด์ไม่กล้าเอามาขาย ไม่รู้เหมือนกันว่ากลัวอะไร
