Blockbuster เครือร้านเช่าวิดีโอรายใหญ่ในสหรัฐตัดสินใจเลือก Blu-ray เป็นฟอร์แมตหลัก โดยจะสต็อกแผ่น Blu-ray ในทุกสาขาทั่วประเทศ ส่วน HD DVD นั้นจะมีแค่ 250 สาขาจากทั้งหมด 1,450 สาขา หรือถ้าอยากได้จริงๆ ต้องสั่งออนไลน์

Matthew Smith รองประธานของ Blockbuster เปิดเผยว่าการตัดสินใจนี้มาจากการทดลองตลาดมาระยะหนึ่งแล้ว และพบว่า 70% ของลูกค้าเลือกเช่า Blu-ray ด้วยเหตุผลว่าหนังฝั่ง Blu-ray น่าสนใจกว่า ไม่ใช่ปัจจัยด้านเทคนิคหรือราคาแต่อย่างใด

HD DVD คงรอวันดับแล้วล่ะมังครับ มันเริ่มมาตั้งแต่ตอน PS3 ออกนั่นแหละ ถ้าจะโทษ ต้องโทษโตชิบ้า ในช่วงที่ตัวเองยังนำ และ Blu-ray มีปัญหา ไม่มีการให้ข่าวใดๆเลย จนกระทั่ง Blu-ray กลับตัวได้ ให้ข่าวอย่างเมามันเลย ถึงขั้นประกาศว่าตัวเองชนะแล้วตั้งแต่ต้นปี โตชิบ้าก็ทำได้แค่หลบหมดน็อค ปล่อยหมัดแย๊บเบาๆ

น่าผิดหวังจริงๆ แต่อย่างไรก็ดี ตราบใดที่ Universal ยังไม่ถอดใจ HD DVD ก็ยังไม่ตาย สุดท้าย Universal จะเป็นคนจบสงครามนี้หรือไม่ ก็ต้องดูกันไป

HD DVD อาจจะมีโอกาสอีกเฮือก เห็นลือๆว่า Leopard จะรองรับทั้ง HD DVD และ Blu-ray ทั้งๆที่ Apple นั้นเป็น BDA

ปล. จริงๆแรกๆผมเชียร์โตชิบ้านา ตอนนี้ผมไม่เชิงว่าเชียร์บูลเรย์ แต่สมเพชโตชิบ้ามากกว่า

มีสงคราม format สิ ยิ่งถูกไว ดูสิตอนนี้ HD DVD, Blu-ray ลดราคาครั้งใหญ่ลงไปกันคนละครั้งแล้ว เฮียโตลดปั๊บ BDA ก็ลดตาม ถ้าเกิดการผูกขาด อาจจะมีการจับมือตรึงราคาก็เป็นได้ (หรืออย่างน้อยๆก็ลดช้ากว่าเดิม เหตุเพราะยังมี DVD เป็นคู่แข่งอยู่) ยิ่งเห็นชัดกันเลยว่าเป็นพันธมิตรที่แข็งแกร่งกัน
