Apple ออกแอปใหม่ Passwords เพื่อใช้จัดการรหัสผ่านแบบเดียวกับ 1Password

หนึ่งในไฮไลท์ที่แอปเปิลประกาศในงาน WWDC24 คือการแยกแอปสำหรับจัดการรหัสผ่านของบริการต่าง ๆ Passwords ออกมาโดยเฉพาะ โดยจะมีให้ใช้งานทั้งใน iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia และ visionOS 2

Passwords ไม่ใช่ฟีเจอร์ใหม่สำหรับแอปเปิล เพราะความสามารถจัดการรหัสผ่านแบบข้ามอุปกรณ์นั้นมีอยู่ใน Settings ซิงก์ข้อมูลผ่านบัญชี iCloud มานานแล้ว แต่หลายคนอาจไม่ทราบ แอปเปิลจึงเลือกเปิดตัวแอปแยกออกมาเพื่อผลักดันให้คนใช้งานมากขึ้น

หน้าตาของแอป Passwords นั้นคล้ายกับ Reminders โดยแยกหัวข้อย่อยตามการจัดการรหัสผ่านต่าง ๆ ได้แก่ All, Passkeys, Codes, Wi-Fi, Security และ Deleted รวมทั้ง Family Passwords หากมีการใช้งาน Family Sharing

เวลาเข้าเวปจะมี Popup iCloud Key Chain ขึ้นมาเหมือนเปิดใน iDevice เลย
แต่.... อาจจะใช้ยากกว่านิดนึงนะลองดู ใช้มานานละ

ปัญหาใหญ่คือมันใช้ข้าม platform ลำบาก ไหนจะเครื่องตัวเอง,เครื่องบริษัท
ไปใช้ third party แทนเพราะข้ามไปมาง่ายกว่าเยอะ
บางทีติดตั้งแค่ Extensions login จบแล้ว

ข้อควรระวังหากใช้ Passwords ของ Apple

Passwords นั้นผูกไว้กับ Apple ID ซึ่งปัจจุบัน 2FA ของ Apple ID รองรับ truested device, OTP ผ่าน มือถือ และ Physical security keys เท่านั้น

ซึ่งหากใช้ Physical security keys ก็จะปลอดภัยหน่อย (แต่ก็ลำบากในการใช้งาน)

แต่ถ้าไม่ใช้ Physical security keys ก็เหลือแค่ truested device หรือ OTP ผ่านมือถือ ซึ่งข้อควรระวังคือ

เครื่องหาย หรือโดนขโมย (truested device)
SIM swap attack (โดยออก SIM ซ้ำซ้อน)

ฉะนั้น ใช้งานอย่างระวัง

หมายเหตุ

Physical security keys ต้องใช้ security keys ที่เป็น FIDO Certified จำนวน 2 อันขึ้นไป
2FA ของ Apple ID ไม่รองรับ Time-based One Time Password (ใช้งานผ่าน Authenticator พื้นฐาน)
2FA ของ Apple ID ไม่รองรับ backup codes (เผื่อกรณีเครื่องหาย หรือโดนขโมย แล้วไม่มี trusted devices เหลืออยู่เลย)
Apple ID บังคับให้ใส่ trusted phone numbers
