ผู้หญิงคนหนึ่งในรัฐจอร์เจีย ประกาศฟ้องบริษัทเอชพี ที่โปรแกรมชิปบนกลักหมึกให้ไม่ทำงานเมื่อถึงวันที่กำหนด โดยปรกติแล้วชิปดังกล่าวถูกใส่ไว้เพื่อวัดระดับน้ำหมึกที่เหลืออยู่ในตัวกลัก แต่ทางผู้ฟ้องร้องอ้างว่ามีการโปรแกรมระบุวันหมดอายุเอาไว้ ทำให้ใช้งานไม่ได้ไม่ว่ากลักหมึกนั้นจะมีหมึกหรือไม่
