About the Role:

This Sr. Database Administrator / Engineer must have hands-on experience in bringing up large scale database clusters in Oracle, Redis, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB and Couchbase databases. Your top priority is ensuring that all the databases and relevant applications remain stable, reliable, and recoverable as the database platform and applications that use them evolve quickly. Must be able to support large migrations of new clusters within data centers with minimal ramp up and guidance.

Responsibilities:

Configure and monitor large clusters of Oracle, Redis, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB and Couchbase databases instances.
Automate routine tasks with your own scripts and open-source tools.
Solve production problems and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
Co-ordinate with the global teams in different time zones.
Maintain database backups and test recoverability regularly.
Study the database needs of our applications and optimize them by working with the developers.
Maintain database performance and capacity planning.
Write documentation and collaborate with technical peers across the globe.

Requirements:

Good command in spoken and written English.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, engineering, or a similar field with a minimum of 7 years experience as Data base adminstrator.
Minimum of 2-3 years of RDBMS database administration, 2-3 years of NoSQL and 2-3 years of Unix/Linux proficiency (as a power user and administrator).
Strong expertise in optimization, sharding, replication, server administration, indexing, in memory search, map reduce, slow query analysis and setup of large clusters for large volume applications.
Coding skill with at least one of the scripting language or a programming language.
Solid knowledge of Oracle, Redis, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB and Couchbase concepts.
Experience with capacity planning and scaling issues is a big plus.
Willingness to work flexible / odd hours (as needed).
Successful experience working in a team environment.
Having good knowledge and experience in operations tasks (as a power user and administrator) such as Linux upgrades, shell scripts, python etc is a plus.
Having worked on development projects in high level languages such as Java, C# is another great plus to join our team.
