SAS – Safety And Stories, creating a safer community. SAS is a free mobile application that can enhance individual safety and allow people to use mobile phone as a safety device. In other words SAS puts safety in user’s hand, pocket and bags.

Thailand! Everybody loves to come here. But due to unfortunate incidents in the recent times, locals and tourists alike are feeling insecure. SAS mobile app, however, has come to the rescue.

People involved in making of this app are students and alumni from Assumption University of Thailand and all are cousins. And we are a big family with more than five sisters. We were always worried whenever they travelled alone. Always wanted to know the cab number they were commuting on. The question was for how long? And at that time there was news of child molestation in train in Thailand. This unfortunate incident triggered us to get started ASAP.

It was one fine evening, on a pavement outside my house me and my cousin brother talked about the idea of SAS back in January 2014. The seed was sowed. I thought I’d do it as a senior project for my final year in engineering. It was a brilliant idea, something new, exciting and challenging.

We started the researching process with great enthusiasm. After a week I knew that I can’t do it as a senior project. Reason simply being lack of skill and programming mind. I told Vicky (brother) that I cannot. Sigh. But he replied, “Let’s do this!”, “Let’s take this to the biggest platform, save victims, save women”. I was like ‘vamos migo’. He wanted to make it big, for the real world for the real people not just as a senior project. After I backed down from programming, we knew that our first task would be to find a programmer partner. And the search began. In the meantime we were deciding on what exactly our app gonna be like. Name was not decided yet, but we had features in mind. From then till now, there was no stopping. Yes, it was taking time but we believe it was worth our patience.

In the summer of 2014 we talked to our friend, who is local and a programmer. At the same time we outsourced the designing department from India. It’s really hard to find someone who is good at both coding and designing. Unfortunately our programmer friend couldn’t give much time, this project needed loads of time and attention. Therefore things didn’t work out well. And then all of a sudden the dreams shattered. But we understood one thing that we need one hardcore coder in our team. We had to begin again from the scratch. We never felt like giving up, rather we’ve always tried a little harder to be a little better. We preferred to try again, fail again and fail better.

And the search continued again…

‘SAS – Safety And Stories’. The idea is to share your location to guardians, when in danger. It’s about giving your loved ones a peace of mind about your safety.
