Reed Exhibitions celebrates the 25 years of successful partnership with Reed Tradex, praises the bright future International Trade Exhibitions in Thailand

Mr. Chet Burchett, Chief Executive Officer of Reed Exhibitions, was warmly welcomed to celebrate 25 years of successful partnership with Reed Tradex in Thailand.
Burchett praises the country’s recent launch of ‘Thailand Extra Exhibition’ campaign, and points out that Reed Exhibitions’ business strategic move has to be very flexible and adaptive to the challenging global situation where markets move fast and technology changes swiftly. “Reed Exhibitions is a strong player in the mature markets. We are in markets which account for more than 75% of the world’s GDP. Reed is in all the markets we need to be in,” he adds.
From 2016 onwards where conditions of ASEAN Economic Community - AEC will fully be enacted, it is expected that there will be both threats and opportunities present to Thailand’s meeting and exhibition industry. Burchett emphasises that Reed Exhibitions’ strengths in the global networks will definitely helps increase Thailand’s competitiveness compared to major ASEAN neighboring countries.
He highlights that the benefits of tradeshow and exhibition are to promote and sell new products, uncover new potential customers and trade partners, and strengthen business relationship. International Trade exhibitions creates economic impact to Thailand’s exhibition and tradeshow industry which yields both economic and social benefits in forms of direct foreign income, improved destination image, wealth distribution, and employment.
Burchett talks about Reed’s foremost role in business being a ‘relationship broker’, responsible for uniting parties mutually capable of benefiting from each other’s business. Not only ensuring industry players are intact with industry developments, the international trade fairs are among the most important instruments in business-to-business matching and communications winning both potential customers as well as raising brand awareness and business reputation.

“METALEX has been strengthening Thailand’s manufacturing industry, setting trends and facing challenges,” explains Preecha. “Generally, this show is considered one of the key mechanisms to propel industrial growth across Thailand and ASEAN, by bridging world-class exhibitors and quality buyers, locally and internationally, to meet, discuss and make business networks. Moreover, it is chosen by global brands to be an annual launch pad for their technology debuts here in Thailand together with Europe or Japan.”
“Nevertheless, during the major flood in Thailand in 2011 which took place a few months before show days, METALEX transformed itself into the platform for machinery maintenance and replacement to maintain the production capacity and to speed up recovery of industrial community which instead boosted the strength of Thai industry and we are proud of this adaptive action as we were ready to serve the emerging demands and tackle the crisis,” Preecha elaborates.
In 2016, METALEX will increase its exhibit area by another 40 percent to occupy the whole exhibition hall expansion of BITEC, from 46,000 sqm in 2015 to 64,000 sqm in 2016, and will be named as “the Grand METALEX.” Reed Tradex expects to attract around 100,000 visitors from ASEAN countries.
Preecha concludes that “Reed Tradex is proud of its trade shows in terms of business and social contributions as they will accelerate the introductions or the launches of new technologies in ASEAN. This year, over 100 innovations have been launched and this number will escalate in 2016.
