We are looking for a top engineer to join our team as a Data Operation Engineer in Bangkok.
Job Description
Our team is building products in various languages to help people communicate better. The Data Operation Engineer will handle and manage projects’ technical tasks related to extracting, processing, and preparing data to be annotated by teams of linguists in several languages. The data involved will be mostly text, but might involved some audio data. The role also requires working with linguists to design and build some language-specific data processing tools.
The tasks include:
- Manage data extraction pipelines using existing tools
- Create tools to aid the extraction and processing of large amount of linguistic data (sentences, phrases, words, etc)
- Write scripts to decode messy text with lots of dates, abbreviations, numbers, etc
- Write verbalisation rules (e.g., to expand URLs, email addresses, numbers, etc into spoken words)
- Work with linguists to write down formal linguistic rules as a part of a linguistic data processing system (e.g., splitting paragraphs into sentences)
Job Requirements
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, and listening)
- Computer science, computer engineering, or relevant degrees
- Familiarity with Linux and shell scripting
- Proficiency in programming in at least one of C++, Java, or Python. Proficiency in additional programming languages a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communicator
Project duration: 9-12 months (with potential for extension)
Salary: Very competitive/negotiable.
Starting date: As soon as possible
