Front End Developer

Role purpose:
• To create and maintain projects across desktop and mobile websites using standards-based markup and works closely with producers, designers, the CMS development team and other Front End Developers to come up with creative solutions for web development, accessibility, and Search Engine Optimisation issues that affect the sites, with some direction from Front-End Architects

Role & Responsibilities:
• Develop/write code to deliver projects/ jobs including standard code modules taking into consideration the strategic objectives of the business, and provide relevant documentation
• Convert designs created by the design and user experience team into compliant and efficient web templates and sites
• Provide guidance to, and integrate work undertaken by 3rd parties on behalf of iCar Asia
• Identify & communicate shortcomings in existing sites/ sections and improve quality to stakeholders
• Undertake comprehensive competitor analysis on a regular basis
• Review a wide range of information portals and sites to improve quality and efficiency
• Provide estimates on time required for given tasks and communicate any changes to these estimates and manage expectations
• Liaise closely with the user experience team throughout the project to optimise quality and adherence to standards
• Innovate and participate in the ongoing development of the website
• Assist producers in concept creation and brainstorming
• Manage requests and feedback from stakeholders
• Initiate team discussions involving product development, practices, efficiency, workflow & quality
• Liaise with visual designers and user experience team to ensure active communication & best practices between front end development & design
• A weekly update of the progress and achievements to manager
• Ensure compliance with existing design standards where possible or applicable
• Work with Front-End Architects to ensure standards reflect best practice for all desktop, mobile and tablet platforms
• Develop and maintain standards that can be easily utilised by the in-house development team and that are in a suitable format to be distributed to and used by third party vendors

Requirements:
• Bachelor degree in an IT-related field
• 5 years front-end development experience
• Proven and extensive expertise in front-end production skills (hand coding xHTML/CSS/JavaScript/jQuery), testing & deployment of major web products or services and standards design and implementation
• Understanding of process and scheduling
• Competency across all Adobe Creative Suite applications (mainly Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash)
• MS Office – particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Working to tight deadlines
• Thorough understanding of web production in a multi-project, deadline-driven environment
• The ability to create HTML templates for large projects/redesigns and create standard code modules for those projects
• Adherence to cross-browser and cross-platform testing
• Ability to master the latest trends in web development, accessibility and SEO
• Able to balance technical complexity against client needs to find the optimal solution; considers low-tech and creative alternatives
• Work well with teams, and able to communicate effectively to the different business groups
• Fun, Dynamic, energetic self starter and hands on
• Fair English communication skills
• Experience with using Content Management Systems or with large content-driven websites will be beneficial
• Understanding of and experience using social and “web 2.0” – twitter, facebook, blogs will be beneficial
