Usually in these small laptop with hi-resolution screen, the manufacturer set the display scale to 130% so overall screen looks roughly the same as the low-res screen. However, some application does not support scaling, and others might looks awful.

I'm using Sony Vaio S with 15" Full-HD, and I can say that even on 15" everything looks tiny (it comes with 130% scale but I turned back to 100%.). It's not really bad on 15", but it will be worse in 13" since the screen is smaller.

Even MBP with retina display also suffer with this kind of problem.

Anyway, Metro-App in Windows 8 would be working with scaling better than Win32 apps. I think, in the first 2 years, there won't be many Metro app though.
