ไม่น่าจะนะครับ กูเกิลน่าจะติดกับเรื่องที่ัตัวเองถนัดคืออินเทอร์เน็ตมากกว่า
เรื่องที่กูเกิลจะทำให้โลกซอฟท์แวร์หมดความสำคัญไปคือการให้บริการมากกว่า โดยทุกวันนี้กูเกิลเป็นผู้บริจากรายใหญ่ให้กับไฟร์ฟอกซ์ เรื่องนี้ผมว่าเข้าทางที่ Louis Gerstner เขียนไ้ว้คือโลกจะเปลี่ยนไปในทางด้านบริการ
ในอนาคต คุณกับผมไม่สนใจหรอกว่าใครจะใช้วินโดว์ ใครจะใช้ลินุกซ์ ใครจะใช้ IE ใครจะใช้ไฟซ์ฟอกซ์ ปัญหาคือคุณเข้าเว็บค้นหาอย่างกูเกิลได้ คุณเข้า Gmail ได้ วันนี้ไม่มีใครสนใจว่าข้างในกูเกิลจะใช้ลินุกซ์หรือวินโดว์ ทุกคนแค่เข้าเว็บไปค้นหาได้ คุณได้รับบริการที่คุณต้องการ เท่านั้นก็จบ
ถ้ากูเกิลทำให้ OpenOffice ถูกใช้งานได้จริงเป็นวงกว้าง ไมโครซอฟท์จะยิ่งถูกลดความสำคัญไปมหาศาล เพราะทุกวันนี้เรารู้ดีว่า บริษัทจำนวนไม่ยอมย้ายมาใช้ลินุกซ์เพราะต้องการใช้ไมโครซอฟท์ฺออฟฟิศ อย่างที่เราเห็นลินุกซ์จำนวนมากพยายามให้ตัวเองใช้ออฟฟิศได้ เพื่อลดกำแพงตรงนี้
ค่าทำให้โอเพนออฟฟิศมันดีผมว่ามันถูกกว่ามานั่งสร้างโอเอสมหาศาลเลยครับ ยิ่งช่วยแบ่งๆ กันจ่ายกับซัน และนักพัฒนาทั่วโลกด้วยแล้ว

เคยได้ยินข่าวลือมาว่า ถ้า Google จะทำ OS (GooOS) คงจะทำ OS ที่ใหญ่มหาศาลถึงขนาดที่ทุกคนบนโลกสามารถมี account ของตัวเองบนนั้นได้
แน่นอนมันต้องเกี่ยวข้องกับ Internet แหงละ คงต้องติดตามดูกันต่อไป ...

ถ้า OS ปัจจุบันตอบสนองความต้องการของกูเกิลไม่ได้ ก็อาจจะมีโอกาสเห็น Google OS นะครับ แต่ผมก็คิดเช่นกันว่าคงไม่ได้เริ่มจากศูนย์หรอก น่าจะดัดแปลงมาจากของที่มีอยู่แล้วมากกว่า หรือเข้าซื้อกิจการ OS สักเจ้าที่กูเกิลเห็นว่าน่าจะพัฒนาให้เหมาะกับตัวเองได้

Internet Os ผมคิดคว่า น่าจะเป็น internet เนี้ยล่ะครับ os ของ google เท่าที่เห็นตอนนี้บริการของ google ก็เริ่มขยายเข้ามาในวงการ Document แล้ว จากข่าวที่จับมือกับ sun เรื่องให้บริการ Office ฟรีผ่าน browser ไง ครับ อีกหน่อยก็คงมี บริการอย่างอื่น อีกมาก ที่จะฟรีบน internet Let's play Ubuntu 5.10

ตอนนี้โลกกำลังหมุนเข้าไปสู่ web services กันเยอะแล้ว คิดว่าบริการต่างๆคงต้องใช้งานบนเน็ตได้เหมือนกับใช้งานบน desktop คิดว่า google เองน่าจะทำได้ดีทีเดียวหรือหากไม่ทำเอง เชื่อว่าอาจจะไปให้เงินทุนสนับสนุนผุ้พัฒนารายอื่นที่มีอยุ่มากมายให้มาทำแทน ไม่ต้องเหนื่อยด้วย google เองก็จะกลายเป็น invester แบบเต็มตัว เหมือนที่เคยสนับสนุน opera firefox ทำให้โลก
opensource เดินก้าวหน้าได้อย่างรวดเร็ว
