Raspberry Pi OS อัพเกรดมาใช้ Debian 12, ระบบกราฟิกเปลี่ยนเป็น Wayland

Raspberry Pi Foundation ประกาศอัพเดตระบบปฏิบัติการ Raspberry Pi OS มาใช้แกนของ Debian 12 Bookworm ตามรอบการออกรุ่นเสถียรของ Debian ทุกสองปี

นอกจากของใหม่จาก Debian 12 โดยตรงแล้ว Raspberry Pi Desktop ยังมีฟีเจอร์ใหม่อีกหลายอย่างดังนี้

  • เปลี่ยนมาใช้ระบบจัดการแสดงผล Wayland แทน X11 ซึ่งหลายดิสโทรเปลี่ยนกันไปก่อนแล้ว ชิ้นส่วนที่ Raspberry Pi เลือกใช้งานคือ Wayfire (compositor) โดยตอนนี้จะใช้เฉพาะบน Raspberry Pi 4 และ 5 ส่วนฮาร์ดแวร์รุ่นเก่าจะยังใช้ X11 ต่อไปก่อนในเวอร์ชันนี้
  • ระบบจัดการเสียง PipeWire มาแทน PulseAudio ตัวเดิม
  • ระบบจัดการเครือข่าย NetworkManager ตอนนี้ใช้เป็นดีฟอลต์แล้ว แทน dhcpcd ตัวเดิม
  • ซัพพอร์ต Firefox อย่างเป็นทางการ เป็นเวอร์ชันปรับแต่งให้รันบน Raspberry Pi ได้ดีขึ้น (เดิมมีเฉพาะ Chromium)

เพิ่งลงใหม่ RPi0W กับ RPi4 ไปเมื่อคืน นึกว่าต้องโละใหม่อีกรอบแล้ว 😅

ผมลืมบอกว่าผมเช็คแล้วผมได้ Bookworm แล้วน่ะครับ

ส่วนเรื่องอัปเดต อันนี้ official จากในที่มาก็เตือนไว้ครับ

We have always said that for a major version upgrade, you should re-image your SD card and start again with a clean image. In the past, we have suggested procedures for updating an existing image to the new version, but always with the caveat that we do not recommend it, and you do this at your own risk.

This time, because the changes to the underlying architecture are so significant, we are not suggesting any procedure for upgrading a Bullseye image to Bookworm; any attempt to do this will almost certainly end up with a non-booting desktop and data loss. The only way to get Bookworm is either to create an SD card using Raspberry Pi Imager, or to download and flash a Bookworm image from here with your tool of choice.

เห็นว่า pi 5 ก็ ต้องลงใหม่เช่นกัน ไม่สามารถใช้จาก 1-4 ได้

จากความเห็นข้างบน ผมว่าการที่จะต้องลง OS ใหม่เพราะไม่สามารถทำการ Upgrade ขึ้้นไปโดยตรงได้เนี่ย มันควรจะหายไปได้แล้วนะ

ความล้มเหลว คือจุดเริ่มต้นสู่ความหายนะ มีผลกระทบมากกว่าแค่เสียเงิน เวลา อนาคต และทรัพยากรที่เสียไป - จงอย่าล้มเหลว

ลำพังแค่อัพเกรด kernel ไม่น่ามีปัญหา

ผมว่ายุคนี้น่าจะเลิกกลัวเรื่องลงใหม่ได้แล้ว (มั้งนะ) มีทั้ง Vagrant, terraform, .dotfiles, docker, etc.
