AMD ออกซีพียูตระกูล Opteron แบบ 4 คอร์ที่ใช้การผลิตขนาด 45 นาโนเมตร หรือที่เรารู้จักกันในรหัส Shanghai (เป็นตัวต่อจาก Barcelona ซึ่งผลิตที่ 65 นาโนเมตร)

นอกจาก 4 คอร์กับ 45 นาโนเมตรแล้ว มีของใหม่เพิ่มเติมดังนี้

  • ปรับปรุงด้าน virtualization
  • มีประสิทธิภาพดีกว่า Barcelona 35% ถ้าเทียบอัตราการบริโภคพลังงานระดับเดียวกัน
  • กินไฟน้อยกว่า Barcelona 35%

ตัวเลขของ AMD เทียบกับซีพียูของอินเทลแล้ว บอกว่า

  • เซิร์ฟเวอร์แบบ 2 คอร์: ประสิทธิภาพดีกว่า 6% ราคาถูกกว่า 29%
  • เซิร์ฟเวอร์แบบ 4 คอร์: ประสิทธิภาพดีกว่า 24% ราคาถูกกว่า 21%

รุ่น 2376 ความถี่สัญญาณนาฬิกา 2.3GHz ซึ่งเป็นรุ่นล่างสุด ราคาขายตัวละ 377 ดอลลาร์ต่อการสั่งซื้อพันตัว

ผมมองว่าเอา Barcelona มาเทียบอันนึง กับเอา Shanghai มาเทียบ 2 ตัว

Shanghai ตัวแรก กินไฟเท่ากับ Barcelona ตัวเปรียบเทียบ ให้ประสิทธิภาพมากกว่า Barcelona อันนั้น 35%

Shanghai ตัวที่สอง ที่ให้ประสิทธิภาพเท่ากับ Barcelona อันนั้น กินไฟน้อยกว่า 35%

เหอะๆผมอยากเห็น AMD ตัวใหม่นี้เทียบกับชิป server ที่เปงNehalemจังเยยอ่าอินเทลรีบซีอออนที่สถาปัตยกรรมเดียวกับNehalemดิๆๆๆๆๆ (เห็นเค้าว่ากันว่าถ้าเปงserver ความเร็วของเมมโมรี่อ่ามีผลมากนิคับ)อยากเห็นจังว่าจะยังชนะ24%อยู่หรือป่าวหรือว่า24%นี้เร็วกว่าอิลเทลที่เปงสถาปัตยกรรรมที่ออกมาก่อนนานแล้วอย่างเพนริน(จิงก็ไม่นานหรอกแต่อันนร้AMDมานพึ่งออกเองนา)ถ้าแน่จิงพอมีซีออนตัวใหม่ออกมาแล้วจับชนเลยดิ
