Job Description :
The Engineer for Applications Management Services will ensure the successful operation of VenTek hosted and remote-managed customer applications:
• Install and configure software on production, test, and development systems. • Monitor systems and perform services to ensure SLA requirements are met, including operations, consulting and maintenance. • Serve as first line of support to prevent, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues and customer inquiries, escalating hardware issues to the Data Center Operations team or Customer IT team. • Continually strive to automate and streamline operations and maintenance processes by identifying areas of improvement, writing scripts, and documentation • Perform maintenance during scheduled off-peak maintenance windows (nights/weekends) • Capacity planning, performance tuning • Work with a team of skilled VenTek software engineers to manage search applications. • Training will be provided

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The Engineer for Application Management Services position requires a broad range of skills, and a desire and ability to learn new skills quickly.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience • Proficient understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems is a must. • Experience administering applications in a large-scale, high- availability production environment is required • Shell scripting experience with Python, PERL, or PHP – at least one is required • Experience with database administration and MySQL, PL/SQL, Apache, mod_ssl, OpenSSL, SSL certificates • Understanding of concepts such as RAID and load balancing • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic fast paced environment, with minimal supervision • Ability to communicate effectively and build effective working relationships across a diverse group of people and departments • 1+ years experience managing customer solutions and applications, ideally in an enterprise software/professional services environment with direct customer contact. • Basic understanding of systems architecture and performance tuning is a must. • Ideal candidates will have experience with information retrieval technology, including relevance ranking, indexing, text analysis, subject clustering, etc • Experience with or knowledge of search engine concepts and practices highly desirable • Successful applicants will typically have at least 2 years of professional experience Education, Certification, Training and/or Minimum Qualifications
