GAIM เปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น Pidgin IM

หลังจากมีปัญหาด้านข้อกฎหมายเกี่ยวกับชื่อของโปรแกรม GAIM กับ AOL มาเป็นเวลานาน ในที่สุด Luke Schierer ได้ประกาศใน mailing list ของ Gaim-i18n ว่าโปรเจค GAIM ได้เปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น Pidgin IM และจะย้ายโปรเจคออกจาก sourceforge.net ไปที่ www.pidgin.im และ developer.pidgin.im แต่ในระหว่างนี้จะยังใช้ mirror ของ sorceforge ในการรีลีสอยู่

ทั้งนี้ libgaim ก็จะเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น libpurple และ gaim-text ก็จะเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น Finch อีกด้วย
