Mark Shuttleworth ประกาศโค้ดเนมของ Ubuntu รุ่นหน้า 13.04 ที่จะออกเดือนเมษายน 2013 คือ Raring Ringtail

Ringtail หรือ ring-tailed cat เป็นสัตว์ตระกูลแร็คคูน (ถึงชื่อจะเป็นแมวแต่ไม่ได้เป็นสัตว์ตระกูลแมว) พบในภาคใต้ของสหรัฐและตอนเหนือของเม็กซิโกครับ

Shuttleworth บอกว่า Raring Ringtail จะเน้นการใช้งานกับอุปกรณ์พกพา โฟกัสไปที่แบตเตอรี่และทรัพยากรของระบบให้ใช้งานอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ

เอ ... ผมว่ามันน่าจะเป็น Ring-tailed lemur นะครับ

คือถ้าพูดถึง Ringtail นี่คนส่วนมากน่าจะนึกถึง Lemur นะ (คิดเอาเอง) ที่นึกแบบนี้เพราะ

  • มันเป็นตัวละครในหนังเรื่อง Madagascar คนน่าจะรู้จักเยอะ King Julian

  • ถ้าใช้แค่คำว่า ringtail ลองไปหาในกูเกิล มันขึ้นรูปของ lemur ซะเป็นส่วนมากนะ

อีกอย่างคือใน blog ของ Shuttleworth เองก็ไม่ได้บอกว่ามันเป็น ring-tailed cat ครับ

ปล. แอบเยอะนิดนึง เพราะส่วนตัวอยากให้มันเป็น lemur

ประเด็นของผมคือ "ringtail คือตัวอะไร" ครับ

บล็อกที่ให้มาก็ยังไม่รู้ว่ามันคือตัวอะไร

สงสัยต้องถามคุณ terminus ซะแล้ว.....

แต่ผมคุ้นๆว่ามันหมายถึงลักษณะหางเฉยๆนะ ไม่ได้บอกว่าเป็นตัวอะไร เพราะจำได้ว่า มี ทั้งนก หนู กระรอก ที่ได้ ringtail ไปใช้เหมือนกัน

จากข้อความที่คุณให้มามันก็ไม่เกี่ยวข้องอ่ะครับ

ตรงคำว่า "rabid" กับ "rabbit" นั่นเค้าบอกว่า เป็นคำที่ถูกคาดการณ์มากที่สุดก่อนที่จะประกาศชื่ออย่างเป็นทางการ

เน้นอุปกรณ์พกพา แล้วแบบนี้คนที่ใช้ mouse จะไม่บ่นกันแย่เหรอ รอดูแล้วกันครับ ยังไม่วิจารณ์ดีกว่า
