หลังงาน Ubuntu Developer Summit รอบของ Oneiric Ocelot ทางทีมพัฒนา Ubuntu ก็ได้ข้อสรุปหลายอย่างว่า Ubuntu 11.10 จะไปในทิศทางใดบ้าง

เว็บไซต์ OMG Ubuntu รายงานข่าวเรื่องนี้อย่างละเอียด ผมจับมาสรุปรวมกันเป็นข่าวเดียว และใส่ลิงก์ของแต่ละข่าวไว้ให้นะครับ

กลุ่มแอพพลิเคชัน

Firefox จะยังเป็นเบราว์เซอร์มาตรฐานต่อไป ไม่เปลี่ยนไปใช้ Chrome/Chromium ที่มา
Thunderbird อาจจะได้เป็นโปรแกรมอีเมลหลักแทน Evolution ขึ้นกับว่าทีม Thunderbird สามารถปรับปรุงซอฟต์แวร์ให้เข้ากับ GNOME และ Unity ได้มากแค่ไหน ที่มา
โปรแกรมแบ็คอัพ Deja Dup จะถูกเพิ่มเข้ามาเป็นโปรแกรมแบ็คอัพมาตรฐานของ Ubuntu ที่มา
โปรแกรมตัดต่อวิดีโอ PiTiVi จะถูกถอดออกจากโปรแกรมมาตรฐานของ Ubuntu (ลงเพิ่มเองทีหลังได้) ที่มา
โปรแกรมช่วยลบไฟล์ที่ไม่ใช้งาน Computer Janitor จะถูกถอดออกจาก Ubuntu (ด้วยเหตุผลว่าผู้ใช้อาจเผลอลบไฟล์สำคัญผ่านโปรแกรมนี้) ที่มา
LibreOffice อาจถูกถอดออกจาก Ubuntu ด้วยเหตุผลเรื่องขนาดไฟล์ที่ใหญ่มาก ตอนนี้ยังไม่ตัดสินใจ ที่มา

กลุ่มโปรแกรมของ Ubuntu และ Unity

Ubuntu Software Center จะทำงานได้เร็วขึ้น, ปรับปรุงวิธีแสดงข้อมูลของซอฟต์แวร์แต่ละตัวใหม่, อาจเพิ่ม system requirement สำหรับซอฟต์แวร์กลุ่มเกม ที่มา
โปรแกรมหลายตัวจะเริ่มรองรับฟีเจอร์ของ Unity เช่น Quicklist, แถบสถานะและการแจ้งเตือนข้อความใหม่บนไอคอน โปรแกรมที่จะรองรับได้แก่ Gwibber, Banshee, Tranmission, Brasero เป็นต้น ที่มา
Ubuntu One จะทำงานร่วมกับ Thunderbird, Shotwell และรองรับฟีเจอร์ของ Unity นอกจากนี้ยังจะออกรุ่นบนวินโดวส์ และเพิ่มการซิงก์ไฟล์บน Android ที่มา

แสดง dialog box แบบแผ่นชีท (sheet) ของ GNOME3 (ซึ่งไปเอาของ Mac OS X มาอีกที) ที่มา
เปลี่ยน GDM มาเป็น LightDM ด้วยเหตุผลว่าใช้ง่ายกว่า สวยกว่า ซับซ้อนน้อยกว่า ที่มา
Ubuntu อาจจะปรับลิมิตของขนาดไฟล์ ISO จากเดิมที่เท่ากับขนาดของซีดี (700MB) เป็นขนาดอื่น เช่น 1GB หรือเท่ากับแผ่นดีวีดี ซึ่งยังไม่ตัดสินใจ ที่มา

ตั้งแต่ทีม Ximian ที่เคยทำ Evolution ย้ายไปทำ Mono แทน มันก็นิ่งมานานไม่ค่อยมีอะไรเปลี่ยนเลยครับ

จริง!! แต่ถ้าเอา LibreOffice ออก เวลาใช้บนคอมที่ไม่มีเน็ตก็แย่สิครับ

ไม่เห็นด้วยกับการเอา *Office ออกครับ เพราะถ้าเครื่องไหนไม่มีเน็ต หรือเน็ตช้า นรกแน่ ๆ อย่างน้อยก็ทำเป็นเวอร์ชั่น Lite ก็ได้ ใส่มาให้เฉพาะฟังก์ชั่นที่จำเป็นจริง ๆ ถ้าอยากลงเพิ่มเต็มสูบค่อยลงตัวเต็มตามทีหลัง (ซึ่งก็ยากอยู่ดี)

ไม่เวิร์กอย่างแรง การเอา *Office ออกจากแผ่นเนี่ย

LibreOffice ถึงเอาออกไปก็ต้องหาโหลดมาติดตั้งเองอีก สู้ร่วมมาในแผ่นเลยดีกว่า

Unity นี่ผมลองใช้มาพักนึงแล้วไม่ชินซะที เลยกลับไปใช้ GNOME แบบเดิมดีกว่าคล่องกว่ากันเยอะ
